Re: Thai Food Carrier

So, my Sena rang. My wife asked if I could pick up Thai food on the way home from my ride. No problem said I. A quick stop at K-Mart... 4.99 and a few zip ties from the tool kit... and voila! Plastic Thai food carrier. I ask you: who needs hard luggage anyway.
Perfect! ::008::

Sitting at the dealership right now getting the headlight recall done. Good timing, too - both lights failed on the way here. Glad I have the RI light bar up front now...

Roger,

Picking it up from the dealer was first:
On the trailer for the 280 mile ride home:

280 miles is a great first ride, adjust seat, check all pressures....40 miles of back roads near your house, then 280 back to the dealer for your first service...perfect. ::021::

Undressed her a little to see what was lurking underneath:

Added RAM mounts for the phone and Zumo. Wired up the Zumo off the battery, iike it to always be hot.

Ordered a Gerbing dual temp controller (didn't want to drill holes to put my permanent one on her from the Wee). Also ordered a 3 circuit unswitched fuse panel from Eastern Beaver. I'll connect my Zumo, 12V outlet and battery tender to it. I like an always hot 12 V socket to be able to charge my Sena and cell phone at camp.

Dropped it, first scratch. The off idle stumble hit while I was going through a small hole off the edge of the driveway and the handlebars went all e way to the right and before I could catch it over we went at zero mph. Front land edge in the grass but bottom front corner of Jesse landed on sidewalk and thus my first scratch. The Givi crash bars kept the front plastic safe. A little spray on bed liner and the scratch was gone. Nothing hurt but my pride. Oh well we got the first scratch out of the way.

Was able to move my Adventure Motostuff rack from the Wee over to the Tenere. Had to drill a few extra holes in the AMS rack and a few in the Yamaha rack but it came out pretty good. Looks like it'll be fine until I get the Jesse or Alt Rider rack.

Also, took off the rear seat bumpers to level out the seat, I had a forward lean that was putting some pressure on the boys.

Fancy got herself some new shoes!!! The Big Blocks had 3k on them and were fully spent. I went with yet another knobby to see how I like it - the Mitas e09. I am hoping for the same grin I got from the BBs but get a longer lifespan. We'll see....

I had bought a month ago off Craigslist a nearly brand new HF tire changer that came with the NoMar tire bar and lube. I had to fab up a center rod as the one that came with the changer will not fit through the Tenere rear hub. Nice to have a friend in a machine shop with a lathe that could turn down a M20 bolt to fit into a 1/2" black iron pipe which is almost a perfect fit for the Tenere hub. I was amazed at how easy the Big Block came off the rim after remember the struggle to get it on there manually with spoons. And the E09 went on smooth as silk even with this crappy HF tire rig. The NoMar tire bar gives you so much leverage it's silly. I have now installed K60s, BBs, and the e09 on the Tenere. The e09 is BY FAR the stiffest sidewall by an exponential magnitude of those three. It makes the notoriously stiff K60 look like a wet noodle when it comes to installation. Once I get the kinks worked out on this tire changer setup and hone my technique - it is gonna make tire swaps a cinch.

While down there in the garage, I also mounted up a set of little green LEDs that my buddy had given me. My handlebar setup for phone and gps obstructs my view of the turn signal lights and I am am always hearing through the Scala that my turn signal is on. Plus it is a huge safety concern for me as I am commuting alot of school. I do not want to have a cager think I am turning and then pull out in front of me. So I mounted these LEDs up to the right and left switch housings by drilling a 3/16 hole for a tight fit for the LED and then RTV sealing the backside once the LED was in place. A simple splice into the turn signal wiring and it was good to go. Sorry for the crappy cell phone video below, but it gives you an idea of what I now have.

it's a shame yamahammer spent all this technology and didn't put self canceling turn signals on it. 16k for a ES, when back in 04 my warrior was 10k and had self canceling sigs.

It's a tough call. Some people love them, others hate them.

I'm in the latter group. I'm quite happy to turn the signal off when I want it to go off, not when Yamaha does. My wife drives me nuts on rides because she won't cancel her self canceling turn signals. This adds to confusion of drivers when she turns, then quickly approaches another cross street or major driveway. Fortunately, she's very, very good at watching out for drivers trying to kill her, as am I, so we have avoided physical interaction with vehicles so far.

There are kits available if you wish to add self canceling turn signals, but it's harder to delete that feature if it comes from the factory.

Now that's a good looking tire. Wish I could justify it for myself. I can't, but that's a prudy tire.

Just Rode From Molalla Oregon home to Medford. Had a great weekend riding around Molalla and Estacada and Canby. Got some great videos with the Gopro. I will try and post them soon. Love this bike. ::022:: Also installed a Factory Yamaha tall windshield right before our two up ride. Worked well.
