Replaced the air filters, in Australia they fitted the Uni Filter foam pod filters...checked the old ones, it appeared as though the previous owner may have washed them out in (god knows what) and they were disintegrating.
Cleaned up the mess and jumped on the phone to order replacements, phoned three large Yamaha dealers in Victoria, Australia, not one of them had them in stock, one of the dealers stated that his computer showed none in Victoria...Told them politely to "get F%&*@D". In the end had to order from an interstate dealer on Ebay, one week later they arrived and were fitted.
Surely you would think dealers would stock fuc*&^g air filters that have been fitted to the Australian S10 since 2010.
Not fitted as standard on my leftover 2015/18. Mine had the paper filter fitted and the foam filters supplied in a bag if I needed them.

I'm preparing my self to do the valve verification and also to replace the chain tensioner, my S10 has close to 29K mi and vavle check has not being done, so I will verify and do the proper job.

No date defined but will happen in the close future.

Have a great day to all.
Would love to see pics and read details of that work!

I had the front seat memory foamed. The 40 mile ride home was a lot better. It makes the seat height on low, somewhere between the lower and higher settings. Next week I'm off on trip, so it will give it a workout.

I actually thought about doing that. It might enrich the mixture a little by fooling the computer that the incoming air is a bit cooler than what it would see inside the air box, but it might actually improve the engine performance given how lean they set up the engines in most bikes these days. I think you could also just relocate the OEM sensor and plug the hole in the airbox?

Did you notice any improvements in performance when the engine is fully warmed, conversely any negative affect on gas mileage?
TABASCO did a write up here a few years back about wrapping the airbox with an insulating material. I forget what the original impetus was, but one of the end results is that the stock temperature sensor wound up being much more accurate.

Denser, cooler air should provide more power and resistance to spark knock, don't know that the Super Tenere has an issue with the latter however. The effect on the temp sensor makes sense. Gotta think it'd be easier to just relocate the sensor if ambient accuracy was the main concern.

What part of The Empire State are you located in?
I’m in the suburban Rochester metro. Just a couple miles South of Lake Ontario. In the 104 snow corridor. Argh.

So my oil filler cap cracked when trying to remove it. It was clearly over tightened by the Yamaha dealer back in 2014, and hadn’t been unscrewed since. I’ve ordered some billeted aluminum replacements but trying out how to get that plug out now.

I changed out all the brake fluids. They were darker than I had ever seen brake fluid. Like Coca-Cola colored. Probably as much water as brake fluid. But now the brakes are super tight.

Had I not watched a couple of YouTube videos, I would have never known that the caps finger twist piece could just snap with little pressure. I’m still peeved about it though.

I tried that on my Gen I bike and it didn't make much of a difference for me. Perhaps I used a less effective material or didn't do as good/complete a job, though I tried to be very thorough and give complete coverage.

I often compare temps with the wife on her GSA. Her ambient air temp is usually quite accurate. A point to the Germans, I guess. Usually I'm slightly warmer on the S10 read out, but around 83F we are usually the same. On rare occasions I'm cooler than she is by a degree or two. I see the results of heat soak on my gauge, she doesn't since her sensor is outside in the air, not in the air box. The difference if there is no heat soak going on is usually 2-4 degrees, but it's not linear. She might be the same at 93 too, it's all over the place some days.

I was able to remove the broken filler cap after soaking it in WD40. The new CNC billeted aluminum in black worked so nicely.

Now the major fluids have all been changed. I do need to run out the rest of the ethanol free high grade out if the tank. There’s no telling how many months it’s been sitting in there.

Here is a look at the sheered plastic filler cap minus the finger blade. Not good. I ordered another cap off eBay for $15, just to have a spare.

Yikes, that would require water pump pliers to remove it. An adjustable pliers.

I received a Madstad windscreen bracket, and an MR windscreen to go with it.

Shout out to Dirt_Dad as he hooked me up some winglets as well.

Tap-stalk isn’t letting me post a photo. It’s had big issues lately.

How is the wind noise at a buck sixty??? Er 100 mph?
The camera appears to create a significant amount of drag.
I'm contemplating getting a helmet cam, maybe a Sena.
But it must capture a very good resolution along with minimal drag. Anyone out there have some suggestions??
Thanks

There are under the fairing cameras that only have a small lens that connects under the bikes guts, and also has a rear camera lens for the back as well.

Back when I had my ‘99 Busa, I did some fun track days with a sport bike association. 1 CART track was a blast but I almost ate tired and hay bakes taking a hairpin too close.

The other was a night at Las Vegas motor speedway. That was a truly amazing experience. The problem with that bike was it loved to go fast. I got it up to 173 mph on a straightaway. I can tell you that the aerodynamics get crazy, where you are literally hugging anything to remain gripped on and flat. Just turning your helmet a tad feels like you could easily snap your neck as you decelerate and straighten out your aching neck.

I can’t imagine anything more than just a pin head lens would have problems.

BTW, they make you pull everything off your bike with glass, every mirror, signal and tape up your headlight, even though it was an 8p-8am event. Pirelli was nice enough to supply track slicks for us at $100 per wheel and they mounted and balanced them for free. You have to walk the full length of the track as a group first as well as insert small speakers into your helmet, where the tower constantly is screaming in your ears.

Much fun, but I’m far too old for that any longer. It only takes 1 error and you are dead!

But what a rush! Pretty much after that I knew I was just heading for trouble with super sports or high speed bikes.

Yes later I went to an interceptor then eventually bought an R6. I sold the R6 with less than 2000 miles over 3 riding seasons.

On the Busa you felt purely at ease with the weight and power. On the R6 you felt like one wrong twist of the throttle on NE roads could be your last or you were going to jail.

But look for that type of camera. A few YouTube guys recommend a couple that won’t get used against you as they are seen.

The Innov K2 is a great set a few friends have either one or two cameras, bike powered with a WiFi connection to pull data, image quality is really good but the audio is rubbish, if you don't mind putting music over the footage they might be worth a look.

Shumba, for sure it is very nice at 70-80mph, at my cruice speed, I hardly make it past 80, I'm more to enjoy the ride!
The camera works ok, just got it, Drag in not a concern!
Have a great weekend!

Added four 5/8 stainless steel washers to the handlebar mounts on my 2016 S10. Removed the flex and shaking I was getting over bumps. The shaking got worse once I added Rox pivoting risers (not anti-vibe).

Took a 130 mile ride after the mod and I have to say that I like it. More firm handling, no increase in vibrations. When I let go of the clutch side of the handlebar i can still use my left side mirror, an indicator of just how much less movement there is.
