Picked it up from the dealer! 50 wonderful miles home. Hit some country roads and splattered a bit of mud on it from some still sloppy roadways. Breaking it in right; -)

Regarding break in, my dealer told me in the first 100 km take it easy but don't baby it. Let it go through 3 cycles of operating temp to complete cool down. Then ride it like you stole it. Change break in oil at 500km and done.

Dropped my wife off at work and went for a ride. Not my first ride of the season but it's great now that the snow has nearly gone and I can easily get out to the highway ...

The bike is still on the lift awaiting its shock from Cogent Dynames, so I took the opportunity to pull the spacers out of the linkage and greased the needle bearings. I know the bearings have the 'string cheese' in them, but a little grease applied with my finger sure makes things operate smoothly.

Today I fabricated a bracket to mount my Garmin sat nav to my Touratech mount, just needs powdercoating to finish it off.

Changed the oil filter and rear end gear oil. Have a few longer trip this week and wanted to start off with fresh oils.

I used Yamaha 10W-50 oil, K&N Filter and 85W90 Gear oil. Likely to change away to Mobil 1 oil and gear oil next change.

Oil leave sight glass shows oil middle level (Measured oil 3.6 US QTs from a 4 QT oil bottle)

Oil filter engine surface was marked with the OEM filter rubber gasket. Did not scrape tit off just rubbed it clean.

Gear oil filling was a pain as I could not see how I was filling and overfilled a few ounces so had to let it drain for a few minutes.

24,000 mile service. All 4 exhaust valves were too tight, adjusted them to just under maximum. All 4 inlet valves were fine.

Just got back from a ride with the new Osram NightBreakers. Whiter, stronger, more noticeable (so it seems - even in the middle of the day you can clearly see their reflection off road signs). Great improvement over stock bulbs (kept as spares). By far the cheapest frackle ($29) so far...
