Took a day ride to Mississippi.
First stop was Shilo battlefield. The peach orchard. Did the whole auto tour

Rode thur Corinth and then Holley Springs National Forest on my way to Oxford. Parked right off the square and ate a burger at Proud Larry's. When I got the check found out why Larry's proud.
Took the straighter way home thur west TN. Lots of this
Stats for the day
424 miles
44.6 mpg for the day. Mostly 15 to 20 over too.
Left home 0830 returned 1800
14.50$ for a burger and a fat tire.

Tried to get in that way once, the severe wash board turned me back... LOL, that was twenty years ago though. The wash board still there?
Washboard to rattle your teeth and question every torqued bolt on your steed.

Rode some Oregon, (pick up a local map), John Day to Austin Junction to Ukiah to I84... All paved, (but not according to Garmin), saw more cows and motorcycles on the road (open range) than cars and pickup trucks.....

Prepped my bike for three weeks to San Diego along the coast and back via Lake Tahoe, Lake Payette and Going-to-the-Sun Road.

Another 6 days and I'll be leaving Alberta chasing your tail. We will hit some of the same spots as you but you definitely beat me too it. ;)

Ride safe.

Did a little ride to College Station to check out the George H.W. Bush Library

Good for you CD! How was the Library  The wife and I would like to see it someday. Our names should be listed someplace inside due to our support and proud of it!

Nice photo ::008::

After 2 weeks riding in MT, ID, WA, OR and CA, we crossed back into Canada today. Thank you America, you were an awesome host with many great places to explore. Found some new places to ride. Had no bad encounters and definitely will be back soon.

My Yamaha Super Ténéré performed to perfection.

At nearly 42,000 km, I changed the engine and final drive oil today. Amazing how much better the bike always feels after an oil change. ::008::
Yeah, feels like it wants to be driven hard!

Fitted a Penske shock from Nick to complement the fork springs I put
in last month . Also pulled swing arm and lubed all bits. No rust on
bearings but not much grease either.

I also did the 600 mile oil & final drive fluid changes today.

I've read the mixed success stories about getting the oil level in the sight glass, even after supposedly putting in the proper amount of oil. I got lucky at my first try, possibly. We'll see if the level varies as I ride it....

Tonight I packed my bike in preparation for the third annual Exercise THUNDERING RAM. This is a two day run for soldiers in 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group - and they are riding on duty. The idea is to create a community of safety-minded riders - it seems to work, as last year, for the first time in recent memory, we did not lose a single troop to a motorcycle accident. The ride is the culminating point of Motorcycle Safety Week, which features free skills training for the soldiers. We have about 150 riders in Alberta that will ride from Edmonton to Jasper, and then break off into smaller groups for self-directed rides in the mountains. We also have about 20 soldiers in Shilo Manitoba who will make a run to Kenora Ontario. It should be a great ride, and any day that you get paid to ride is a good day!

It will - don't sweat it. This morning before my ride with the bike on the center stand I looked at the sight glass - completely covered. After the ride I waited 10 minutes and checked again - perfectly at the top of the fill line - just like it was 3,000 miles ago when I changed the oil..

Silly dry sumps... ;)
