When you say "this late in the game" are you meaning you weren't in on the PDP program? If so your bike must be one that wasn't "spoken for" when all the orders went in. If that's the case then maybe your bike isn't tagged up with your name and is coming in to another dealer only to then be transferred to your selling dealer for you to pick up. I would still think someone, somewhere would have info on this particular bike. Hate to see you giving up any good riding days though. If it's any consolation, I'm getting ready to go to work and won't be home until Wednesday evening. Gonna be tough knowing the new bike is in the garage waiting for me get home and ride it.
The owner of the dealership had the PDP order in his name and turned the order over to me in early June. From what I understand this was to be his personal bike, so they are without a doubt doing me a solid.

If it rolls around to the end of next week and I still haven't heard anything I may genuinely start worrying.

My apologies hANNAbONE, I didn't intend to hijack your thread! :)

I think they did you a favor by putting the showroom bike together first.

New bike, there will be a learning curve to assemble it. Let them figure everything out on the first bike, then the mechanics and sales staff can drool, paw and molest the display bike. Meanwhile, by the time your personal bike is assembled, they will be bored of the "newness" and leave it alone.

Prolly already been said but....................... He did ya a favor. Let his work guys screw around with another or even a few before yours... Then let the whole dealership go ride and "test" those others before you get yours..............

On that note, I have #1 at my dealer and he was trying to be cool and said he would build mine first..... I said NO RUSH.... build a few before mine.. Ill be there next week.... He liked that............................... So did I.. ;) Let the 'new' ware off on the first five bikes... then they can build mine.... :D Knowing my luck I would have there 19yr old trying out the "power" on the first unit.... F-That ! :D

Not on my bike...... ;D

Problem with my dealer is that mine is the *ONLY* one he's getting! ???

Really not to worry, though. They've got a good crew that take their time, are careful as mice, and all have known me for years... Plus I'll be right there, and I started working at Honda shops breaking bikes out of crates and assembling (though before that I worked at a British bike shop as a mechanic). That's how all mechanics there had to start!!!

Hell, they might even let me put it together myself, which would be great fun! :D

Don't sweat it HB. I think his statement above was a Freudian slip and he very well may have been doing you a favor.
Hopefully you can/have gotten to over see the setup of your machine.
It took my shop about 4-5 hours to do mine. The mechanic was one of their better ones, he is very thorough. A less experienced one may need more time. After they do the 45th one, they usually get pretty good at it.

Go pick your bike up on Tuesday.

I'm sorta in the same situation.
I know from the forum that my dealer had received 11 bikes on Thursday, but since I will not be able to pick mine up until the 8th I waited to see if he would call me. Today I decided to call him, I could tell that I was the last person he wanted calling.
He was not prepared for Yamaha to basically ship the bikes unannounced, and he relaxed when I said that I would not be in until the 8th.

At the time I was not happy he did not call me and tell me the bike had arrived, but after thinking about it I will be much happier getting a bike that wasn't speed assembled for quick delivery.

I don't think that a "Floor" bike should get assembled before a "Sold" bike, but that's the way I would do business.
Also, if my bike was in for repairs I would not want the mechanic pulled off my bike to assembly a "Sold" bike.

My dealer got all his at once, no warning. They were not even on his floor plan yet when I picked mine up. He was getting pounded by callers wanting their bikes.

He did mine first, he has not set up his personal bike or his 2 floor bikes (cancellations) yet. I don't think I was his first order, but this is my third purchase from them and second sight unseen PDP order. They were still working on it when I arrived, I got it at mile zero. I went back up today for another key (I like one for my wallet) and he had yet to ride one. He took care of me on price and YES warranty price, I tossed him the key.

Methinks he'll remember that when them oh so expensive heated grips show up next week!

Anyone still looking, you cannot go wrong with Larson's Cycle in Cambridge MN. Others on here seem great as well. If you go for a fly and buy ping me and I can assist with transport up there.

HB, hope things go better as you ride away, I can tell you you will quickly forget the experience. I am still grinning.

Its no 5 hour set up, bike prep is nothing new to a dealer, he is giving excuses. Sorry for your delay, nothing you can do but wait and then think hard before giving him anymore of your business. My dealer called when the truck came in and had the bike together in less than 2 hours. I'll let you know if my wheel falls off. When you pick it up, politely inform him you informed the forum about the poor service they provided.
Sport-rider and others,

I sat in on the assembly and uncrating of my bike. I was helping, and it took two of us from 7pm until 11pm. There are more brackets than i would think needed to be installed by the dealer, but there were. The three other ones following mine were surely going to go faster since he now knew where everything was to go!!!
