Buzz,

Ordered it. Should be receiving the Bags Connection Evo quick-lok City bag soon. Also, ordered the Motofizz small bag for the rear for day trips. Removed the rear seat, and it looks like the small will fit right in the pocket. Will use a dry duffel bag with Rok straps for the tail later.

I have been looking for a tank bag and tail bag i can just leave on the bike for my regular 1-day rides. Was gonna try Wolfman like I have for dirt bikes, but thought I'd give this SW Motec BC bags a try since so many seem to like it. Looks like nice stuff, but kinda pricey.

Don't forget that you can remove the spacer under the rear rack and re-install the rack so that surface is level with the surface under the rear seat. Riding solo, (wife is on her own bike), I pulled that spacer out on the first day the bike came home and have never used it again. Just nicer for me to have a larger flat surface. I even ordered more of the rubber bumpers, which fit right in to the holes and make that surface great for larger flat items.

I too removed that spacer and am interested in what rubber bumpers you ordered from whom?

The vendor I used is http://www.partshark.com/

Page link HERE (if it works)

The actual part is Yamaha p/n 23P-24737-00-00 It's called a seat damper or in Yamaha terms: "Damper, Seat" and on that site they are $1.07 each. Shipping would cost more than the parts if that was all you ordered, so it might be cheaper to order from the dealer and wait for it to come in. Number 28 in the diagram below.

These are the same rubber dampers that are under the passenger seat. I just ordered 4 more and put them in the holes on the rear rack, so when the spacer is removed and the rack re-installed, you have all 8 holes filled with rubber dampers and the surface is the same height. Currently I have a flat bed fuel cell mounted there with an extra 5 gallons of gas that is plumbed into the main tank. (that's another thread HERE )

Brick, you should be able to have your Yamaha dealer order part number 23P-24737-00-00 for you.

Awesome find! Thanks, exactly what I was looking for, did not know you could do that. Definitely gives some other options. Will check that out for sure.

Sent my Motofizz small bag back. Neat bag but I'm now looking for something different for the rear, and super fast to install/remove. Like what i see so far from Bags Connection, expensive stuff, but nice.

I 'm considering the matching Bags Connection "Jet Pack" bag for the rear with the simple cam buckle fasteners, etc. As long as it stays on the bike through some bumpy stuff, might be okay -OR- I'll just do some sort of a Dry Bag with Rok straps or something easy to use.

You know what your needs/desires are, but a lot of commuter guys run scooter top boxes. Shad, Givi, etc. They are smaller than full size ones, cheaper, and give you that quick on/off feature you're looking for. You can get them in large enough sizes to hold a single helmet, if that's a parameter for you.

THANKS! Feedback was helpful everyone. Done. :)

Just ordered the SW-MOTECH Bags-Connection Non-Electric QUICK-LOCK EVO City Tankbag.
Have you had a chance to install the bag yet? What are your thoughts? Is there any contact between the bag and the tank?

Tupperware,

Yep, got it installed and I've used it on two full day road rides. I like it quite a bit and really use it. Easy to get in and out of and easy for fuel stops. I attached a zip tie loop to the pull wire so I can get the thing off with my gloves on at gas stops.

When you mount it, you have to position it and drill the holes where you like it positioned fore/aft on the bike. I mounted it as far forward as I could leaving about 1/4" gap between the recessed area under the bag and the mounting plate. It does touch the tank just a tad and I'll probably end up installing those tank saver pads on my sides and middle of the tank anyhow just in case.

I struggled between this bag and the Wolfman bag wondering which one to get until I read some posts on "fuel stops" , and I was looking for something with a bit of structure to it. Originally I wanted the Wolfman tank/tail bag combo. The SW Motech Bags Connection City bag holds shape fairly well (not perfectly, but good enough), the side pockets are not expanded so you cannot fit much in there but I use the pocket facing the rider all the time for my wallet and iPhone, fits perfectly. The City bag does fit nice on the bike and I don't think I would go larger as others do. I leave this bag on the bike all the time now. I was going to buy the matching BC Jet Pack bag for the rear but decided it might look too sport bikeish so I just ordered another Kriega US-30 for the rear hoping that will suffice. I still do have an eye for the Wolfman bags too which look right on the bike as well. The BC City bag is high in quality and the quick release setup works pretty good. So far so good.

Thanks for the info EricV and Fred. I was about to order them when I realized that I had ordered the bumper to put under the seat. Everyone had said that changing to these taller bumpers leveled the seat and that it was the best thing since sliced bread. Well I tried them there and didn't like it so I just used them on the rear where the rear seat used to go! Works just fine!
