Hey DaFoole,

I see you have the wireless Scosche (sp?) remote mounted on there. Do you use that with an iPhone? I was wondering if that remote would work with my iPhone. That way I could leave the phone tucked away in my tank bag protected and control the music!

I'm using it for my 160k I-pod which I keep in the tank bag. I don't know if it works for the I-phone as I don't have one....still a luddite on that level..... ::025::

I'm using the suction cup windshield mount that came with my Nuvi 550 directly on the windshield as the mount, with the stock 12 volt outlet for power. This puts the bottom edge of the 550 just above the instrument cluster, and makes it easy to fool with while riding. A zip tie running to the stock windshield adjustment hole (my shield is set in the lowest position) keeps everything in place just in case. 3k miles on this very simple set up with no issues. I do make sure to clean the back of the suction cup and the windshield, and re-install the suction cup damp every other week.

I did the same thing on my 800 GS, and found that it was a perfect leading indicator for me riding too aggressively off-road. Each time the mount popped off the windshield, I was riding the bike a bit too hard/fast for the terrain. Normal singletrack in 1st gear was never an issue, it was the 2nd gear "maybe I should slow down before I have to walk or crawl home" type stuff that usually knocked it loose.

I have been using the Garmin mount for my Nuvi and just zip tied it to the base of the left mirror. Crude and rude but it's worked. Threw on a baggie in rain.

Probably going to make a Pelican Box mount like we did for the wide screen Nuvi on the DL650. Without the stock internal liner, the gps barely fits and I'd suggest either a bigger box or the mid-size gps. If raining it can be run closed and if not raining the box can be left open or shut, due to a small piece of velcro on the back of the gps and mating velcro in the box. There is a hole in the lower corner just big enough for the power cable, which has proven too small for a rain problem. We added a power outlet in the fairing and the power cable can be seen in the lower photo.

Side view, on our home made MadStad for the windshield. The windshield was home made, too, as can be seen by the thickness, and has since been replaced:

I like mine up high. I have the TT Windshield adjuster which provides a horizontal bar for mounting the GPS. ::015::
Hi Roger, can you please post a picture of how your gps sits in relation to the dash

Is the gps mounting bare solidy mounted or does it slide around .

Regards,

Bill

May I suggest my GPS mount: http://gadgetguy.net/PhotoGallery/Yamaha_2012_Super_Tenere/index.html
It can be used for installation of any Garmin Zumo GPS model, as well as any gadget cradle with standard "amps" (30mm x 38mm (1.181-Inch x 1.496-Inch)) screw hole pattern.
Additional screw hole patterns can be added if nessesary.
The bar mounts are better placement for someone like me that needs to wear bifocals rather than the mounts up around the display console. Currently I have my Nuvi550 on a Ram Mount, but that seems like a nice design and placement.

I have mine off to the right and closer to me than most of the other postings. Seems to be in a good postion to work the buttons while riding and easy to read. Also have the radar detector and hte Spot on teh same side. All Ram mounted

That's more like it! No key switch 'blockage.' 8) I already have my GPS mouted near the windscreen, so I'll probably put the ETC unit there or on the bar clamp, but swung the outside on a RAM arm.
