I ran the stock battery for a couple or maybe 3 years. It went bad and I got a parts unlimited that was equivalent to the YUASA 14. I ran it for almost a year and the battery post broke on it. Got another parts unlimited and it has been in ever since. Not sure who makes the parts unlimited battery so I don't know what it is. the last battery has been in the bike for at least 6 years maybe more. I have to check my records. I have a parts unlimited battery in my FJR 1300 that is over 10 years old and still starting it fine. it gets hit with a battery tender every couple of months. the super T has never been on a battery tender but it get rode daily.

I went with the NOCO LiFe 14 months ago and would do it over again in a heart beat. I no longer bother hooking it up to a charger. (I have a NOCO charger that now just sits on the shelf.) This battery cranks like the bike should, even if it sits for a few weeks. I will not hesitate to do kickstand kills and leave the switch on to avoid resetting things, even with all my lights on, which I never used to do because the battery would start to get weak and crank slow. I used to run the cheaper 14 equivalents and would replace them every 3 years.

You do get the weight savings too!

Without plugging my lithium noco into a charger, it can last about 7-10 days before it goes flat. Once it is flat, you have to force charge it because the charger won't recognize that a battery is connected.
You have something going on. I can let my lithium battery for a couple of months and it is just as strong as when I left it.

Flat as in when I turn the key, nothing comes on. It is so low that the Noco charger won't recognize that the battery is attached to it.
Charge it up real good and unhook the battery cables. Give it a few days and see what happens. You should be able to leave a lithium battery on the shelf for months and it stay charged.

I put a Scorpion Stinger Lithium battery in my bike 5 years ago now and it's been working perfectly since. It was shipped with only a 30% charge so I bought a lithium compatible charger to initialize it. I have not used the charger since, and that included a 3-moth down time after a knee replacement in '22. I've run it flat twice. Once when I inadvertently switched the ignition all the was past lock to "P" and left it overnight and another time when I stopped for lunch and left the bike parked with the key on after switching off the engine with the kill switch. The first time (four years ago) all it took was a momentary contact with my jump pack to "wake" the battery up and the second time (about 2.5 years ago) a friend gave me a push start. The battery seems no worse for the wear. Most good lithium batteries these days have an internal BMS (battery management system) that protects the battery from damage if discharged. I've not seen a downside to lithium iron phosphate batteries, other than price, but prices have started coming close the AGM batteries these days.

I've "heard" that lithiums don't like being charged when they're hot and don't like being "topped off".

I had a depleted BTZ12S. Installed a Tusk lithium TLFP-14R purchased from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC and haven't had a complaint. I do use a maintenance charger for lithium batteries.
