Big Adventure bikes have their place for full-sized people. Little guys can ride anything.
They should drop all the other pretend bikes and just concentrate on 350 different multipurpose models. 8)

If you think a Honda four-cyl is a good idea for an adventure bike, you might want to keep S10 plans on hold and wait until Honda releases the V4-powered CrossTourer.

Speaking personally, I'm couldn't be less interested in adventure bikes that are yet bigger, heavier, and more road-oriented than bikes like the S10 and GS.

I really liked the smooth power that my old Honda Knighthawk 650 had with it's small inline 4, so this 1200 V-4 will surely be an awesome engine. It has a baby brother in the CorssRunner which has an 800cc V-4. That looks like it would be a really fun ride.

Honda lost me when they would not, could not, cater to any of their die hard customers for years now. I gave up on Honda. It would take one hell of a bike to change my thinking at this point. I have owned many Honda's over the years, and they are one of the best manufacturers out there. They are just not interested in giving the public what they want anymore.

I have a feeling that Honda are more interested in the emerging markets, where 250cc is classified as a big bike. They are top sellers in India aren't they, with the soon to be dissolved Hero-Honda partnership. YAMAHA is only just starting to sell big litre class bike there at the moment. (like V-Max and R1). Maybe they spend so much time looking at those markets that they have lost a bit of focus with the shrinking "Western Markets".

Anyway, with oil heading up again, the CrossRunner may be a big seller for them. It seems to be really just a VFR800 in new trendy clothes, and should be good bike, maybe not a real adv bike as the new clothes suggest but still a good thing.

Cheers
Graham

Remember the original Gold Wing?
The original Gold Wing was an Adventure bike!!

Every Corner was an Adventure.
Every bump was an adventure.
Every time you had to stop it was an adventure.
Every time I rode one it was "Where is this bike going to attempt to take me today" ;)

The motor was a good touring motor though, Everything else you could loose.

Cheers

Honda has always made good V-4s but lately I am not terribly impressed. First you have the VFR 1200, a sportbike that weighs more than the Tenere. Then you have the Crosstour at well over 600lbs, no thanks. I would appreciate the new 1200 V-4 more if it had better reports but from what I have read feelings are mixed. I loved the Magnas, Sabres, and VFRs of the past but each of those seemed to be more purpose built. Today's Crosstour, is it an adventure bike or a adventure styled tourer? Is the VFR a sport-bike or a Sport Tourer? The VFR certainly didn't dethrone the Concours and won't be a replacement for any of the liter sport-bikes. I don't imagine the Crosstour will dethrone anything either.

These bikes pose a question, is it a good thing that Honda s thinking outside the box, or is it the answer to the question no one asked like the BMW boosted brake system?
