At least the shaft drive won't self destruct and there will be no Canbus issues.

Somebody manages to fairly elegantly adapt a mid-80's technology 1200cc Honda water-cooled flat-four with GS running gear, working out all the problems with the drive system, cooling, chassis, fueling, wheels, brakes, exhaust, electrics, etc. all you guys have to say about it is that it is ugly? Tough crowd! And I got news for you - our S10's aren't any lookers either.

This is incredible work. Stunning.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder I think the S10 is a sharp looking well put together package. While I can appreciate the work that went into this Honda the aesthetics could use some work just my opinion to each his own. I couldn't own a bike that I didn't think looked as good as it runs and from all that has been written about the S10 and what our Euro brothers have told us the S10 runs great and like I said looks great.

This beast is pretty cool! Well put together and would be a great "rough road" bike for local touring. Too heavy for gravel or any dirt, but that wasn't the goal it looks like. Better looking than than the donor Goldwing! Better looking than the turbo-diesel bike that uses a smart car drivetrain!

+1. I'd ride that scooter around the world with a big smile on my face. If Honda ever decides to get its head out of its ass, and build a real adventure bike, they'd do well to take a long look at this one.

Wow a 1200 lb adventure bike just what everybody needs.
The donor bike weighs 330Kg with 22litres of fuel, full fairing, side caes, Big ass seats, chrome work etc. probably within 10% of an S10 with all the farkles, maybe.

Cheers

I would like to see some videos of that beast in action. Can you direct me to where they are?

Remember the original Gold Wing? 1,000 c.c.'s. When it came out, it was a "big" bike. When you look at one today, it looks small.

If Honda broke out that old motor design, updated it and put it in a nice adventure frame, I'd be very interested in it.

Let's keep it real. This bike is ultra-cool as a custom, but probably works like crap compared to a modern adventure bike like the GS or S10. The guy created it as a cool project and to be different, not to make a modern, competitive adventure bike. The last thing an adventure bike needs is a four-cyl motor, especially a heavy, bulky, and obsolete flat four.

dunno. BMW is still using an incredibly old design "flat two" and is doing pretty well well with that. More cylinders = smoother power so nicer on the super-slab.

If you think a Honda four-cyl is a good idea for an adventure bike, you might want to keep S10 plans on hold and wait until Honda releases the V4-powered CrossTourer.

Speaking personally, I'm couldn't be less interested in adventure bikes that are yet bigger, heavier, and more road-oriented than bikes like the S10 and GS.

Big Adventure bikes have their place for full-sized people. Little guys can ride anything.
I still wish there was something in the 650 size range that looked good and still fit my full-sized body. At 6'7", anything less than the seating comfort of my current 2007 GSA or the S-10 I have on order just is not comfortable. I am getting too old for that.
