Well, the bike's OK...

But it doesn't like sand. Perhaps my inexperienced has something to do with it too. I dropped it while riding on a "road" in a sand wash in the Mojave desert. I wasn't fast enough to get out of the way. Now my left leg is broken in 3 places. I am hoping to see a surgeon soon, but nobody's seeing new patients on a holiday weekend.

Did you put your leg out to catch it as it started over? Just trying to learn from your hard luck.

Perhaps a lesson for us all? If it starts over, ride this bike to the ground...keep your feet on the pegs and ride it to the ground? An inquiry; not necessarily an insight. What say ye amongst the learned?

Yep, that was it. I stuck my foot out to cushion the bike's fall and it bit me! I don't think I'll be doing a lot more riding in sand washes.

Hopefully headed to Fresno tomorrow for ortho care.

Thanks all! Surgery is Thursday. Doc says 6 months recovery time. We'll see how long it takes to get back on the bike.
