Any of you cats planning on doing all or part of this this summer? The nice weather has me itching for dirt/gravel.

I work 4-10's so I have 3 days off a week. I was going to do the southern half (1-3) maybe memorial day weekend, give me that extra day to get into OR for the start. Then do the Northern half some other weekend.

EDIT: A little info is in order for those who aren't aware of the route, I guess.

Cerenkov, my dad, brother and I are starting in the south and riding week of July 4. That whole week since the 4th is a Wed. You may really encounter snow going that early. They are saying us going the first week in July will be too early. Will keep you posted.

damn, didn't consider the snow issue. Going later in the season isn't that big of a deal, there's just so many holidays I can take advantage of :D.

EDIT: Looked at a couple ride reports from last year (during the cold summer) as well as not realizing just how much snow there is up there, it's looking like it's going to be a late season this year, and maybe not much of one at all if we have another cold summer. :-[

I am avoiding the idea we will be turning back often and detouring some. I don't want to believe it, but i think it will be reality. I may take my truck up and run some parts on a Saturday or Sunday day trip before July.
Do I hear Scouting trip?

My brother lives in Leavenworth and we have a place up near Conconully, where the route crosses highway 20. I was planning on riding from Cashmere north with him later this summer. That said, I'm up that way quite a bit, so will be more than happy to give updates now and again.

FredB, Yeah could you email me direct if you hear anything on closures or snow levels as the spring and summer progresses until July? I am trying to hear as much as possible. My dad, brother and I are doing the route south to north July 4 week. Fun, fun!!!

The wife and I plan on doing most of the sections this summer on my free weekends. Some will be done on the Tenere and some on the KLR, she will be on her Super Sherpa.

Fred, Do you have any suggestions on where we could stay in the Concunully area? What do you recommend? I have made reservations everywhere except there and north.

Garagemonkey - Justin, What route are you thinking of taking? I have a free pass for tomorrow for riding. I was scheduled to go down to Enumclaw for a VSTrom Tech day. I am meeting some people at the Black Diamond Backery at 7:30am. I told the wife I would be back home around 4pm. Is anyone going with you?

I was going to take 2, but I could just as easily head over 90. I was heading out alone since I didn't think I would get too far before hitting snow. Was going to try from Cashmere both North (Route-4) and South(Route-3) from Cashmere, then maybe head to Chelan and go South to see Route-4 from the other side.

. I believe there are cabins to rent, and there is camping at the state park by the lake. Concunully is very small, a walk around sort of place with a couple bar/grill places with pretty good food. I'd say reserve a spot at the state park. If I recall, cabins are on the upper lake. Also pretty.

After a bit of googling and a couple of phone calls to a friend, here is the list:

concunully state park: http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=conconully

deer haven lodge: http://www.2deerhaven.com/roomsandrates.php

comstock hotel ("budget-minded perhaps?") http://comstockmotel.com/?page_id=9

Concunully lake resort (cabins available, pretty nice on the upper lake): http://www.upperconconullylakeresort.com/

There should be camping up the road from the upper lake on sinlahekin rd (sugarloaf lake).

That should get you started. I'd also check out: http://www.visitokanogan.com/conconully/camp-grounds.html, there are a view other places listed there.

Good luck, and I'm hoping to get up to the cabin over the next couple of weekends. I'll check on the snow near concunully and loup loup (my place is in the chiliwist, about five miles south of loup loup summit.)

Fred out.

thanks FredB, i booked something this week at Liars Cove resort. They use 5th wheel rv's for their rooms. I got it for $50 a night on July 5th, right on the water. You will have to let us know if you will be around to grab a bite to eat.

WaBDR is a (mostly) offroad route from Nighthawk to Stevenson Wa through the National forest. 570+/- miles from Canada to Oregon. It's becoming "the" thing to do around these parts! ::013:: ::014::

Washington, Oregon and Utah have routes now, they are working on Arizona and California. Montana,Wyoming,Colorado and New Mexico have the CDR( Continental Divide Ride) It's an Adventure Touring dream coming true!
