I'm planning to buy an S-10 next week. I heard there was some vibration in the handlebars at highway speeds? Anybody heard/experience this? I know it's subjective. I'm coming off a DL650
Are you buying sight unseen or have you taken it for a ride?johnnail said:I'm planning to buy an S-10 next week. I heard there was some vibration in the handlebars at highway speeds? Anybody heard/experience this? I know it's subjective. I'm coming off a DL650
I had an R1200GS, and didn't think vibration was an issue. Rode the F800GS, and it was annoying. I'm looking at the S-10 as a long distance road bike that won't shy away from gravel. Smooth is important to me, but only on very long days.Twisties said:All bikes have vibration. Everyone experiences it a bit differently as we ride differently, in different conditions, with different farkles and loads, and different expectations/tolerances. In so far as I am concerned vibration is not an issue on my S10. My other bike is a BMW boxer. Folk on the BMW forum complain about vibration too. Before that I had a v-twin..... I needed a mouth guard to tour on that thing. The S10 is comparable to the boxer, and for me at least vibration is simply not bothersome.
Only you can decide what you think of the S10's ride. Try to get a test ride.
My other bike is a Gold Wing (still ride) and haven't notice any vibration with the ST (which doesn't imply it doesn't exist, maybe having too much fun). If anything, I'm surprised how nice it rides at highway speeds (most likely due to the better suspension over Wing).johnnail said:I'm planning to buy an S-10 next week. I figured it was ok, but a test ride in this part of the country is out of the question. thanks allNoMorBills said:VERY LITTLE! Yes it has some but nothing like my V-Strom 1000. For the most part it is smooth all over. If you want really smooth don't ride a bike.
The Tenere is going to be a very good long haul bike and I plan on putting it to the test. I even love it for it dirt road handling. At 500+ lbs it feels much lighter in handling. If you road one you would swear it is under 400lbs.

don't believe everything you read on the internet
That's ironic because I was thinking the exact opposite. I love my S10 but I wish it was a smooth as my old Vee. I've done some mods to help control the vibes and hopefully the motor will smooth out with some miles.NoMorBills said:VERY LITTLE! Yes it has some but nothing like my V-Strom 1000.
