I'm digging through the manual. There is definitely a dimple on the camshaft that is supposed to line up with a dimple on the cam cap when everything is lined up.becoyote said:So that is the problem?

Precisely.Duconce said:Turn the motor back to where K lines up with egde, the cam bearing cap closest to the sprocket on the intake has a line on it, there is a small hole mark on the cam shaft, they should line up. No hole then the cam is 180 out
Darn. Your cams appear timed properly. LOLbecoyote said:went out and turned the motor a bit until I saw a hole come around on the intake shaft. There was a mark, a line on the cam cap. I stopped there.
K is now lined up with the mark on the engine case and the timing marks on the back side of the cam sprockets are where they should be.

Thanks Jaeger, it would be a good idea for anyone doing this in the future to mark the exhaust cam and bearing cap before taking apart, making alignment much easier to seejaeger22 said:For anyone wondering what they are talking about, you can see the hole here:
Some of these post may be overlapping in time.Duconce said:Now check the alignment of the exhaust cam, there is a mark on the sprocket that should line up with the cylinder head surface
