What kind of riding gets 8-10k out a rear tyre ???
Nearly got 9k from a non Exp Tourance, but it was on the 650 V-Strom, the Mrs did the first 2k on the tyres and had only just passed her test, I did the rest commuting to work.

Could not imagine getting close to that on the S10, averaging about 5k and that is with quite a lot of steady runs along narrow back lanes, not really got good "scratchers" roads near us so we spend a lot of time exploring un-classified roads which is very kind to the tyres.

Best wet weather performance tyre would be the Pilot Road 4 (standard not trail as standard gives more miles with no apparent reduction in grip).

I've got the Storm XMs on at the moment, they are fairly new, grip has been good, but in the wet on uneven roads the front feels a little skittish, we'll see if that is just a new tyre thing or if it is for the life of the tyre. They don't get as warm to the touch as the Pilot Road 4s I had on before them.

I tried various road tyres on the vstrom over 60k miles and I found...

The best road tyres for wet roads were the Pilot Road 3s/4s and Roadsmart 2's with the Pilot Roads edging it.

The best road tyres for dry roads were the Continental Road Attack 2, but wear and wet performance wasn't great.
