Right, don't let your students see that post. I do tend to stretch the truth from time to time, but I was turning, may have been 55 time I got done running on the shoulder and regaining control, but I did find out my engine temp was now back down to 181F after reaching 215 at the last stoplight.

Tiger,

Great job on the TC. Now I just have to tear mine apart....maybe tomorrow!

So the pics are gone over on the Tiger1050 forum from my instrument mods? Guess I'll have to take a look and find out why. (re-added the pics over on Tiger1050.com)

Okay, I need to report that I just had an issue with the scroll function quit working. Figured it was the mashed wire maybe had broke. So pulled the plug and dash, the WHITE wire had pulled out of the extension plug. Took a push pin and released the pin in the connector, soldered the wire in stead of the crimp. Good to go.

Just wanted to post a heads up, the extension may not be robust enough to stand up to running around on a bumpy bike. The original mod we spliced the CAT 5 cable into the switch wires and soldered everything. Not having the plug will require that you remove the switch from handlebar when you remove dash.

Tiger,

The extension cable should be fine, sounds like yours may not have had the pins seated correctly when made.

I run the same switch & extension on my KTM 530EXC, (for it's intended purpose of connecting to the Vector speedo assembly!) And with the beating that bike gets off-road (99% of its miles are desert single track where you would never take the ST) any problems with this would have shown up a couple of years ago I am sure. I also run the extension cable for the water temperature sensor for the Vector speedo as well.

Also I did put a connector in my CAT 5 cable for the Tiger install, so I can remove the instrument cluster without removing the switch assy.

Okay then, that is some good reviews. I did pull pretty hard on the other 3 wires while I was checking it, and they held fine. Thanks.

Bump!

Got the switch. Didn't get the extention cause i thought might join some extention wires since you need to cut the connector off the other end as well. Thanks once again to David!

You are correct in that the extension is not technically necessary.

When I did this mod on my Tiger1050 I just cut the connector off the end of the switch and added the appropriate length of CAT5 cable to the end. Works great (and still working great).

Is this product water resistant?
Yes, I asked about this and they said any normal "water / dust / dirt / mud" on the bars is fine... The unit seems to be a nice piece.. Works great for me and a great mod.....

I moved my switch between the left grip and the clutch/handguard mount, easier to reach (I must be getting really lazy). Just had to push on the clutch mount a little to flex the handguard to allow the switch to fit in between.

I now have my Trail Tech switch. Initial look and the leads do not seem long enough. How did you route the harness and or did you extend something? I can and will use my wire stretcher, looking for your input before
I do.

You get there extension. I think its about $5. Or you can use cat 5 Internet cable and splice the wires together. They are really small so you better have some practice.. They are prolly 24-26g. Once you get into the brain map it all out and get a good game plan. Those little wires in the back of that panel are kinda a pain. Its a GREAT mod when its done ! ::008::

It’s incredible Yamaha don’t do something like this. ::007::
If the TC could be there would be perfect and if I can change the TC mode without stop the bike…. Would be marvellous!! ::012::

Traction Control (TC) is there...on the 3rd button. You still have to stop the bike to change TC Modes.

Take a closer look at page 2.
