After being inspired by Boondocker here: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=3406.msg59972;topicseen#new for several months, I bought the locking MegaTube from the thetooltube.com.

I thought about mounting it to the givi luggage rack, but I ultimately wanted it on the bike regardless of having them on or not.

It'll be a tight fit to clear the ~7" rear tire travel as well as have enough clearance for the Givi rack, but hope to keep it close to the frame and aligned like the muffler on the other side like Boondocker. I tried measuring and cutting a paper template to match, but that was like pissing into the wind last night.

Anyway, wish me luck.

Definitely - I'm primarily concerned with the overall diameter of the "mega" as opposed to the standard size tool tube. But, if there's a will there's usually a way. ::008::

Had a chance to do this mod last weekend while watching some football, and finally got enough time to post up pics if interested. First off, I was primarily concerned with clearance with my tight fitting Givi PLR367 racks. I did my best with the specified OD of the mega tube to measure before hand, but ultimately just ordered it and left the rest up for luck. I think it worked out good and can't believe I didn't do this earlier. It's pretty easy.

I went with the Megalock v2 tube from here: http://www.thetooltube.com/MegaTube.html $34 + shipping, and it comes with a cable lock to keep the honest folks out.

Once received, I quickly figured out that the P-clamps were of no use. The frame would take at least a 2" p-clamp to fit.

Luckily, Yamaha put a "dual exhaust" hanger bolt hole on the right hand side of the bike that works perfectly for this. Along with the rear bolt for the rear rack.

The rear uses (2) 4"x5/8" straight brackets from Ace that I primed and painted flat black. Just remove the stock bolt, and get a longer one to go beyond the normal threads and give you enough to put another nylock nut on. One bracket on the front (pictured) and one bracket on the back (not pictured)

The front bracket I had to cut from some scrap I had, but it's probably about 6" long, with one end having one 1/4" hole drilled for the vacant "exhaust" bolt hole, and the other end having 2 1/4" holes drilled for the front of the tool tube.

I also had some buckles and nylon webbing material I added to help support the tube in the middle. Anyway, have fun if you do this. Probably would have only taken a half hour if I knew going in what supplies I'd need.

Good work. I installed mine with a few P-clips to my Givi rack. Next time I put it on I'll snap a few quick pics.
