I just remounted a set of E07 Dakars that I took off last year for some PR4s. The Mitas have 6,000 miles on them, about half done based on my last set. Anyway, try as I might, I managed to put the front tire on backwards (rotational direction). Had this been a new tire without cupped tread from braking, I would have remounted it. I've reversed the front tires on my lighter weight dual sport bikes (running DOT knobbies) when they were in the same state and never noticed a difference in handling. The wear pattern just smoothed out by the time they were done. Rode to work today and didn't think twice about the handling, though I haven't practiced any hard braking maneuvers with the tire in this orientation. I'm sure the tire manufacturer would disclaim my faux pas, but has anyone here done the same (mistake) and lived to tell the tale? I'm inclined to try it for a while to see if becomes ill-handling. If it doesn't feel right, I'll remount it (50/50 odds of getting that right). If I really can't tell a difference, maybe I'll just ride it out. I'm holding out for a set of E07+ Dakars anyway.
