Did a quick search and did find my answer......

Anyone tried/feedback on the E-07 PLUS? I looked on revzilla they are read like they are the same as Dakar E-07, which is what I am running on the rear. Have not tried a front Mitas........

Jury is still out. What limited reviews I've seen state great performance on and off pavement, but much reduced tread life (up to 50% less than Dakar). I'm most interested in a E-07+ front tire but our size isn't available yet (at least here in US). If a E-07+ front could match the miles of a E-07 Dakar rear and off pavement performance is better I'll probably switch.

That's a bummer. Though I've never used the E07, everybody I know love 'em. I am liking the Plus on the rear right now though.

According to Motorace + fronts should be out around November. I just bought a spare rear for my Africa Twin before they are gone.

Not sure why but Revzilla’s prices for Mitas Dakar tires was crazy high when I bought mine plus the not available crap so I bought my Dakar’s on eBay for waaaay less money plus a very nice ebaybucks that I can use to buy other stuff.

Regular Dakar is discontinued? That sucks!!!!

Just ordered 2 fronts from TT, and rears were still out there on a few sites.

Toughness and long lasting were the two things that made this tire so attractive. If they've kill the long lasting part...damn it, I can't believe I have to start looking for a new tire after supplies are gone.

This reminds me of the Anakee 2 to Anakee 3 debacle.

Got lucky. Friend is moving and sold his triumph. Had a new rear that I got for $100. Since I just replaced both Dakar at Romney I am good for 20k miles!

That's some really disappointing news about discontinuing the old E07. I just installed my first set right before a recent three week trip, and I really liked the tires. I put 5600 miles on them, loaded and two-up, and this is how they looked when I got home:

I thought that was pretty impressive; neither my Battlewings or my Shinkos would have ever stood up as well under those conditions. The tires did well in the dirt and gravel out in Utah, and equally well on asphalt. They gave me no concerns on wet pavement. I guess I'll have to try the E07+ and see if they have anywhere near this amount of longevity.

I just remounted a set of E07 Dakars that I took off last year for some PR4s. The Mitas have 6,000 miles on them, about half done based on my last set. Anyway, try as I might, I managed to put the front tire on backwards (rotational direction). Had this been a new tire without cupped tread from braking, I would have remounted it. I've reversed the front tires on my lighter weight dual sport bikes (running DOT knobbies) when they were in the same state and never noticed a difference in handling. The wear pattern just smoothed out by the time they were done. Rode to work today and didn't think twice about the handling, though I haven't practiced any hard braking maneuvers with the tire in this orientation. I'm sure the tire manufacturer would disclaim my faux pas, but has anyone here done the same (mistake) and lived to tell the tale? I'm inclined to try it for a while to see if becomes ill-handling. If it doesn't feel right, I'll remount it (50/50 odds of getting that right). If I really can't tell a difference, maybe I'll just ride it out. I'm holding out for a set of E07+ Dakars anyway.

Close. The tread pattern is largely to prevent hydro-planing (losing traction) when there is water on the road. When off-road, mud acts similar.

Boondocker - If you are not running at gross weights and prolonged high speeds, you'll probably get away with it till the tire is ready to be replaced. HOWEVER -
(1) Be really careful in the rain and
(2) frequently look close for bubbles in the sidewall.

The belts of the front tire are laid to go into compression (iirc) on braking and you are going to be putting those seams into tension. Further, rubber heats in use and over time will seat on the steel bead wires, which you are now going to be pulling in new directions.

At the first sign of anything at all unusual, the tire ought to be scrapped.

In the end, I'd spend less time fixing it than worrying about it, so I'll be a good lad and turn it right way around. Thanks for keeping me straight.

Fixed it. Quickest tire change I ever did. Suppose recent practice helped. A piece of tape on the wheel and a piece of tape on the tire helped me to keep it straight this time.

Yes I also accidentally mounted front tire backwards and didn’t even notice it for a couple thousand miles, so I went through the trouble to remount it correctly, I couldn’t notice any difference in handling at all.
