thanx gunner, I've got a set of eo7's on now, but got them from MX1 in Canada. It's good to have a distributor here. I only have about 600 miles on them presently but really like them. We'll see how they hold up.

Is it my imagination, or are these listed on eBay really expensive? Seems super high. Are they running higher from MX1 in Canada?

Last time I checked, MX1 was $165 for the tire I wanted plus $50 for stateside shipping. This same tire is $185 with free shipping from MotoRace. So it is about a $30 savings by avoiding the trans-border shipping. The e09 I want is more expensive than the BigBlock I am currently using but I'll still give it a try to see what it is like. And the e09 is still cheaper than most all of its competitors.

The tire I ordered is the 4 ply Dakar version, which is listed for $174.95 Canadian on MX1Canada.com, which converts to $161.16 US.
I paid $179.95 US, with no additional tax and free shipping.
MotoRace has good rating and the delivery date is estimated by Monday, June 9.
I'll let you know when it gets here.

My Mitas tire from MotoRace arrived on Friday, easy peasy!
I'm not sure I can wait for my current K60 rear to wear out.

You'll never want another tire after the E-07, it's truely that good. I just removed a set that lasted over 11k miles and the front would probably last another 2-3k if I wanted it to. It's great on all surfaces. Dry or wet pavment, sand, mud, gravel, you name it, it eats it up.

They are excellent tires. I'm on my 3rd rear. Not sure how to get 11xxx miles out of the rear. I've been averaging 8000 KM out of the rears.
Lots of throttle and gravel will wear them out.

Would mixing a Mitas E-07 rear with a K60 front be okay? I believe both have bias ply construction.

I'm really looking forward to getting the K60s off, but the front K60 hasn't really done anything to offend me, and I'm too frugal (cheap?) to trash a set of tires that is still so newish. Only chucking the rear would soften the blow somewhat. I really should do something, because I've been avoiding off pavement riding with the current setup.

Slipangle.... don;t avoid the offroad! The K60's are not too bad when still new. I took them to all kinds of nasty places. But then I got a BB for the rear and kept the K60 front. No issues at all and I really like it actually. I cannot image that the Mitas would be much different. But I am sure that someone is running that combo and can chime in.

Trikepilot,

Thank you for replying. I can't get the K60s to work for my mix of terrain and riding style, and much preferred the stock Metzlers for off pavement. The Metzlers were very consistent when I would throttle steer. While they weren't great for climbing, the rear gripped better that the K60 does with its slick center strip. The Mitas looks like it will bite better in the dirt, but I'm a little concerned about the rear gripping a lot harder than the front. If you're mixing a Big Block with a K60 front, I can't imagine I'd have any problems, at least off pavement.

It's not just me. I ran across a R1200 rider with K60s who shared my observations, and I suspect it's the dust and sand covered rock that's so prevalent where I ride.

the k60 are sketchy in the wet stuff (on or off road). For me the mitas win hands down. It's simply a softer tire. I would not be concerned with grip front to back. If you're steering with throttle, you have no weight on the front. It simply doesn't matter what you have up front.. unless it's a balding pilot road 3 :D

Granted the BB's are a big difference offroad from most anything out there. But I never had any issues the K60's offroad performance in everything from gravel, to dirt, to all kinds of mud, and also very rocky conditions in the backwoods of WV. Of course, at the time that was the only tire I ever took offroad so I knew no better. Still... the K60s got Fancy everywhere I pointed her with aplomb. Now that my BB's are approaching racing slicks, I am eyeing the Mitas E09 (like Cosmic has on his tenere) to pair with the still very functional K60 front.

Not e07's.... but I got my e09's in from Motorace!! 2 day shipping from MA for a total of $185

Here they are next to my nearly 2200mile BB's that are almost down the carcass. I LOVED the BB's but they (as foretold by all) do not last long on a 800lb bike+rider with lots of throttle in rough conditions. The BB is a great tire and at the price is a viable option if you don't mind swapping rubber every 2kmi. Excited to try the Mitas e09!

Look like they got sone kind of center stripe now ::007:: WTF????
Looks like the 2014 model of the 150-17 E-07 does now have a center strip. :-[
Called them and was told their latest shipment came with a few of the 2013 tread design, and the balance of their order of E-07s with the the small center strip. No reason given for the change of tread pattern.
Will be interesting to see if it has any noticeable effect on the loose gravel/dirt traction that makes it a bit better than the Heidenau K60 .
