Why don't you c'mon down and join us?

Since San Saba, TX is about 100 miles north by northeast of Kerrville, and right now most of the ride routes will be out in more to the west, with some up around Fredericksburg to the east, I don't think any of the group rides will make it as far north as San Saba. If you don't want to come down and stay around Kerrville overnight you could still meet up with us any morning of the gathering and ride. The more the merrier.

That goes for any of you Texas guys in the general area around Kerrville. If you can't make it for the whole weekend c'mon and join us for any of the days! ::001::

Hope you can make it! ::003::

I will probably catch y'all on the 23rd. Just saw I was signed up for a Jeep Jamboree event that weekend in Llano with my father in-law. It's on that Friday and Saturday. Hope to see y'all then. Later, Scott

PM with your contact info, Scott, and I'll try to keep you informed as to the schedule, routes, highlight spots for stops, etc. for the each day. I'll be happy to exchange all that info with you so you can contact me directly, too.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

*** IMPORTANT UPDATE ***

Notice for you folks interested in booking your room at the Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel (http://www.yoranchhotel.com/)...

You must book your room on or before NOON FEBRUARY 19th CST in order to receive the ride's group discount and be part of the room block they have provided. This is the block where we get the good parking, easier access to the bikes (and/or trucks, trailers, etc.). You must contact the hotel yourself and lock your room with your credit card, etc. That's only 10 DAYS from now, so if you want one of these discounted rooms don't delay. For this reason I have decided to post the ride's group booking code here in the thread for those that are interested. It is as follows:

STSRIDE314

You must use this code either online when you book or if you call on the phone in order to get the group discount and amenities, and you must do so by NOON FEBRUARY 19th, 2014 CST. You will have all the normal room cancellation privileges, etc., as shown on their website (http://www.yoranchhotel.com/) so please don't delay. After FEBRUARY 19th "reservations will be accepted on a rate and space available basis" as per the group rate contract.

The ride is just over 5 weeks away (37 days to be exact) from today, so again, if you're interested in one of the group rate rooms you must book it by NOON on FEBRUARY 19th CST and use the group booking code of STSRIDE314. And February 19th is only 7 days - that's one week - away!

Please post here in the thread if you have booked one of the rooms for the ride, and please contact me via PM or email if you have any questions.

Thanks, and look forward to seeing you all in Kerrville!

I'm right on the edge of not being able to make this one. Missed 9 days of work since October due to government shut downs, water main breaks, and/or weather shut downs. If we have no more office closings I think I can still do it Sail2xxs style (slab it) and make it, but I'm on the edge. I'm hoping for good weather between now and then. This winter sucks!!!
Make that 10 days and 15+" of snow later... I need to move myself into the highly unlikely column. I'm not going to cancel my room just yet, but I'm having a hard time seeing how I can make this one work now. Bummer...

If anyone is interested in some riding a day early that would be great with us as we have to split on Saturday for the Concho Nat Enduro

Our ETA plan would be Thursday so that we can ride Friday and Saturday before heading home Sunday.

Mike and I plan to arrive Thursday night as well, so we will be itching to ride on Friday. We are also not leaving until Monday, so will be riding Sunday as well.

As far as routes go, I don't know the area, but that adventure route sounds great! Getting to hand out at a honkytonk in Luckenbach would be kinda cool. I'm up for anything. I'm hoping there is a decent group of people who want to ride off tarmac.

Can anyone share some insight on the normal weather patterns in the area at this time of year? I want to be sure I pack the appropriate gear.

I'm officially out. Minor temporary medical issue to tend to. Not a big deal, but not sure if I'll be back riding by mid-March. That plus the days off work for the last few weeks has killed all hope of making it down. Bummed...really wanted to get back to Texas after being away for 27 years.

Have fun all, sorry I can't join you.

Sorry to hear that Dirt Dad. Wish you could make it, but hope your medical issues are quickly and painlessly corrected. Will host a glass in your honor! ::003::

Regarding weather patterns...

Last year we had a 3rd Coast Ducati ride at literally the same weekend in March and the weather was varied. First day it was pretty chilly with some light rain. Next day it was low-40's but it climbed into the mid-70's that afternoon. Third day it was mid-50's in the morning and got downright *HOT* ('80's) by mid-afternoon. My ride home on Monday was all in the '70's and '80's. In another year that I've been in the Hill Country in March I've had it raining every day and in the '40's and '50's, while another it's been gorgeous clear sky sunshine with temps that never dropped below 80. I guess the best way to describe it is - who knows?

I do think I'm safe to say you won't see any temps below 40, and you won't see any higher than 90... ::025::

I think our chances for the weather are good, and I'll be packing betting on temps to be as low as 50 and as high as 80, with something I can live with if it dips lower in the morning, but that I can shed as the temps climb. I don't use electric gear so that's not an option for me. It does rain up there, though, but it's usually in the form of thundershowers that come and go, rather than sustained rainfall. Here's some links that may help with your planning:

I, too, will be arriving on Thursday. However, given some recent medical issues of my own I'm going to probably restrict my riding to pavement-only. I just can't risk a heavy foot-dab or getting a knee twisted right now, so I've afraid I'll have to leave the off-pavement routes and groups to someone else in attendance. Anyone want to volunteer for the planning and organizing the groups for the off-pavement legs?

One last note - remember this *WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH* is the *LAST DAY* you can use the ride group code to lock in the rate, etc. on a room at the Y.O. Ranch Resort (http://www.yoranchhotel.com/). The group code is STSRIDE314 , so it you want a room please book it now! ::019::

Thanks, and looking forward to seeing all of you there! ::001::

Thank you. I imagine at some point I'll get around to posting a thread to confess my self inflicted medical matter. Public embarrassment is good for the soul. ::)

Thanks for all your efforts setting up this event. I understand the legwork required to do a successful gathering. You've done it well.

Hope I'll catch up with everyone sooner rather than later.

Enjoy the ride.

If it wasn't a crash injury while playing with one of your man toys, you don't need to confess anything. :)
But yes, it's shameful to try a get-off cover-up.

Is a crossbow a man toy worthy of confession?

Wondering if (hoping) that James River Road is on the route sheet for some dirt experience. Rode it two weeks ago and full of fun. A few water crossings is always good. Stay in the deeper parts because the slimy moss grows in the shallow areas. Don't ask me how I know this.

*ONLY ONE MORE DAY*

That's right, only one more day to lock down your room at the Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel (http://www.yoranchhotel.com/) at the group ride rate!

*FEBRUARY 19th* is the *LAST DAY* you can guarantee you get a room for the ride in the group block and at the group rate. After that the hotel reserves the right to charge higher rates and cannot guarantee availability, so now is the time to get your reservation in. You can contact the Y.O Ranch Resort Hotel either by phone or online to make your reservation, and you need to use the group ride code of:

STSRIDE314

Just FYI.

Hope to see you all there the weekend of March 21 -23, 2014! ::001::

Crossbow accident?
Ouch. No, I don't need details. The fact that you aren't mortally wounded is all that matters.
