Just saw this event. I am so bummed. I will be riding in the hill country the week of March 10th, and back home by the 20th. Taking the Tenere with me to a week long cycling event " Texas Hell Week". Its an annual event for the wife and I. I'm sure it will be a great success, count me in for next year. Don't forget to make a loop through Lukenbach for a cold one, and some good Texas hill country music. For those of you not familiar with the hill country, the LBJ ranch is a great visit/ tour. Also don't miss the Blue Bonnet in Marble Falls for pie. Great pubs in Fredricksberg. Lots of deer down there, careful after dusk!

Is there anybody attending the rally that is familiar with the Texas Adventure Challenge? I would really like to ride the TAC route from Junction to Kerrville during our Tenere rally because i cannot make it to the TAC (its the same weekend as motogp).

OK, Folks.

Thought it was time to do a bit of updating here on the ol' Texas Hill County Ride thread. Dates are still March 21, 22, & 23, 2014.

Here's the latest on the folks who said they were interested getting a room at the Y.O. Ranch Resort (http://www.yoranchhotel.com/):

- Kidder
- Texas Country Rider
- Bappo
- Sup-Ten
- Dirt Dad
- Snuffcityrider
- MChappy
- Fredz43
- 88millimeter
- Oilfield Trash
- IceCold Dan & BaldKnob (in one room)
- William42
- Benny & Friend
- Coastie
- Dirtdigger570
- 3xranger
- Dallara

There are also a couple of other friends of mine who are not Super Tenere riders, but fun nonetheless, who are getting a room at the Y.O., too. Now remember, those of you interested in the rooms but are not on the list above need to contact me via PM or email to get the group booking code, and *CONTACT THE HOTEL TO LOCK DOWN YOUR RESERVATION WITH YOUR OWN CREDIT CARD*. The folks at the Y.O. are trying to give our room block the very best accommodations they can, with easy access to parking right outside the rooms and plenty of space for hanging out. Should have very secure parking, too, though that's not really a worry in Kerrville.

Was sad to hear that BugKiller and KeepOnRiding were going to have to drop out, but hopefully KeepOnRiding's compatriot, Mbabc, will still be able to make it. However, I haven't seen him chime in here since KeepOnRiding had to bail. How about it, Mark? You still gonna' make it?

Taking a look at the thread, in addition to those above who have said they want rooms there are also those who have said they're interesting in camping. Best I can ascertain from the thread those folks are as follows:

- sail2xxs
- hodee
- echo_four_romeo
- snakebitten
- Cykel
- riasater
- Combo
- TacoPapa

As best I can see other folks in the thread who have expressed interest but have not stated an accommodations preference are as follows:

- cbat
- thfraser
- merchant
- Firefight911
- pub610
- Caddoview
- eemsreno
- KENAROO
- Celiblue
- imrubicon
- Tony99
- Ambercrombie Tenere
- JD
- Andrew
- Roadminge

If I have inadvertently left anybody I hope they will please chime in. In fact, I hope everybody interesting in attending will post up now with your current plans and intentions. That way we can start planning up things like meeting up for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, etc. We can also get a better idea on when various folks will be arriving and departing. And again, those of you interested in getting the group booking code for the hotel room block at the Y.O. Ranch Hotel will contact me ASAP.

A while back I posted asking for folks to offer up their own ideas and suggestions for routes, grub spots, etc., and I hope folks will start getting those in soon. Luckenbach is a great idea, and if we can I hope we can fit it in. How many want to make it a "must" for the weekend?

I am currently planning some routes but would love input there in addition to what I already have and know. Same goes for various places folks would like to stop... I am planning on places like the "Lone Star Motorcycle Museum (http://www.lonestarmotorcyclemuseum.com/ - if it's open. The owner has been ill and it may be closed) and the "Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop" (http://www.friocanyonmotorcyclestop.com/), along with others, but would appreciate your input as to your favorites and suggestions. This is *YOUR* ride, and I want to make it fun for everybody.

OK, folks... How about a current headcount? ::001::

Thanks!

Dallara

I'm still "winging it".
Can't etch anything in stone, but don't currently have anything stopping me. That's about as good as it gets in my world. And I'm not complaining.

I know this: I'm ready to ride. I need to ride. And looking forward to meeting some of the fellas I haven't had the pleasure of yet.

I'm still interested to but right now we are really snowed in.
That must be about 5 weeks from now.
It might take that long for this snow to melt. :'(

I'm right on the edge of not being able to make this one. Missed 9 days of work since October due to government shut downs, water main breaks, and/or weather shut downs. If we have no more office closings I think I can still do it Sail2xxs style (slab it) and make it, but I'm on the edge. I'm hoping for good weather between now and then. This winter sucks!!!

I know this winter sucks for you guys. Cuz we've been caught in it a couple of times here too.
Been laying in bed with pneumonia for 6 days. Noticed last night the house was getting cold and it wasn't just me!
Propane tank bone dry. No cooking. No hot water. And it's Saturday. No propane truck.

I never run out of propane. Cuz I never use much. Lol

This winter has blindsided me.

Hope yaw make it though. Even if sailxx method. :)

Today was 50's. Tomorrow 70?
Saved by the big ball of fire in the sky.

*** IMPORTANT UPDATE ***

Notice for you folks interested in booking your room at the Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel (http://www.yoranchhotel.com/)...

You must book your room on or before NOON FEBRUARY 19th CST in order to receive the ride's group discount and be part of the room block they have provided. This is the block where we get the good parking, easier access to the bikes (and/or trucks, trailers, etc.). You must contact the hotel yourself and lock your room with your credit card, etc. That's only 10 DAYS from now, so if you want one of these discounted rooms don't delay. For this reason I have decided to post the ride's group booking code here in the thread for those that are interested. It is as follows:

STSRIDE314

You must use this code either online when you book or if you call on the phone in order to get the group discount and amenities, and you must do so by NOON FEBRUARY 19th, 2014 CST. You will have all the normal room cancellation privileges, etc., as shown on their website (http://www.yoranchhotel.com/) so please don't delay. After FEBRUARY 19th "reservations will be accepted on a rate and space available basis" as per the group rate contract.

The ride is less than 6 weeks away (40 days to be exact) from today, so again, if you're interested in one of the group rate rooms you must book it by NOON on FEBRUARY 19th CST and use the group booking code of STSRIDE314.

Please post here in the thread if you have booked one of the rooms for the ride, and please contact me via PM or email if you have any questions.

Thanks, and look forward to seeing you all in Kerrville!

How many guys camping and where

I don't know how many guys will be camping, but there are several camping sites mentioned in the thread by folks who plan to camp. A quick read back through the thread will get you a good idea of those. I do know several were talking about the "Koyote Ranch" - http://rvcoutdoors.com/medina-highpoint-resort/

How about it you guys that are planning on camping? Can you help out Tony99 here?

Thanks!

I made reservations for friday and saturday night but i plan on arriving late thursday night. I may camp thursday night. As for routes we should consider taking the texas adventure challenge dualsport route between Junction and Kerrville. I have not taken this route but based on what i have read on the TAC website it looks promising.

That's a *GREAT* idea for a route for the guys who want some off-road riding! ::012::

Can you post it up?

For those who may prefer an all-pavement weekend we could split the group up as necessary, with both planned on-road-only and on-road/off-road routes each day. That way folks could pick how much of each they want to do.

How's that sound?

Thanks! ::008::

Re: Texas Hill Country Super Tenere Rally - March 21-23, 2014 - IMPORTANT UPDATE

Hey, Dallara -- In reply to your's of the 8th, I thought better of the camping idea back in December as it started getting colder, & made a reservation online at YO Ranch. We've had a couple of super-cold weeks with single-digit days & snow (=crappy roads) but it's warming up a little. If we don't get surprised by another big snow in mid-March I should be able to get out of Colorado & down your way. I don't know your country, but I'm seeing ideas for rides that sound like fun. Let's Ride! ::001::

Thanks, TacoPapa.

I take it when you made your reservation with the Y.O. you did *not* use the group booking code?

If that's the case could you please watch your PM's. I'm going to send you a message in a few minutes so we can exchange some info.

Thanks again! ::001::
