Tenere overall balance

Best way I can describe it..

When I am sitting straight up on my 2012 going any speed and I let go of the handlebars, the bike starts falling to the left.I have to lean over to the right to counter balance it.

Is this normal,it's the first bike I ever had that won't just keep going straight when I let go of the bars.Is the Tenere heavily weighted on the left ?

It's not a big deal since I don't generally ride with no hands,it just bugs me that the bike isn't balanced.

Anybody else ?

Re: Tenere balance

I don't know if it is normal, but mine does the same thing. On my recent big trip I loaded the right pannier with heavier stuff, and it helped. In all honesty, I can't claim that I did it on purpose, though. I just got lucky.

On my bike the heavy stuff is on the right side, like all my tools. So you would think the bike would fall to the right, but nope. It's not heavier by a lot, maybe 1 or 2 lbs.

It's the shaft drive. My Royal Star went the same way. It's the pinion gear trying to climb the ring gear.

I have cruise control and can remove my hands from the handlebars. Pulls to the left a tiny bit.

Mine does the same thing.

I am guessing it is the centrifical force of the shafts drive and gears in motion. It could also be that the rear tire is slightly out of alignment with the front tire. Short of shimming the gap between the shafts drive housing and pumpkin, I don't think there is anything you can do about it. Because both the exhaust and final drive are on the left side of the bike, Adding extra weight to the right side may actually help, lol.

Mine does it. I thought from the "sleeping" mine does every so often caused it. Had it checked out with everything good. At least I now know it is normal for most.

Thanks

I don't notice any pull at all, mine seems to drive straight. I don't have panniers but I do have a full exhaust which is much lighter?
Maybe it evens it out

consider the road, as the lanes tend to slope upwards towards the center (left) and the bike will try to climb up that slope.

On a flat road, my 2013 w/ panniers, bars, etc. rides straight w/o hands on the bars. Any crown on the road, however, will change that, and how much depends on the tire profiles and how worn flat they are from commuting.

Probably a combination of the shaft drive and the radiator; must be scooping more air to push through that radiator.

could be that the throttle is on the right side, therefore the right side is accelarating faster than the left side. ::021::

Some of that is caused by the crowning of the roadways for drainage. Mine does it on a lot of roads but not all.

Some of us that have raced motorcycles at Daytona may argue that point ::005::

I had the same issue with my 2015 when I first got it. Now though I can let go of the bars and it travels in a straight line with cruse control on. It may pull a tad to the left, but I personally think that is because the way I sit in the saddle.
