I have a 3rd Brake Light flasher I want to use inline to the rear brake, I have one on the ST1300 and it's great.

Does anyone know the best way to get to the Brake light wires?

Hello Mellow,, I am putting my Whelen TR3 in the reflector spot. Just trace the wires from the brake light to a suitable place to splice. I will solder mine, so maybe behind the fender, or under the pillion.
If you need some help, just holler.

I'm pretty comfortable with the mod, just wasn't sure if removing the plate under the passenger seat or the housing around the rear tail light section was the way to go.

I was able to get my J&M CB, Tourateck Zumo cradle holder, handlebar 'bar' and all that fun wiring installed. Still waiting for the NGP antenna and cable and need to figure out a way to add an antenna bracket somehow...

I heard that all of the connectors are under the pillion seat rack. I have also heard that Easter Beaver has all of the yammy connectors and I was thinking of asking if they would be willing to rig up a brake light connector with an additional connector on a pig tail that could be used to connect the Whelan. I know that it's not really that big of a deal to splice into the wiring harness, but if Eastern Beaver can rig me up a custom connector, I'd rather do it that way. They just might be more willing if there are more that want to do it that way.

Paul have you looked into posi locks and posi taps that's what Jim uses at Eastern Beaver. Btw great guy to do business with I ordered my double horn harness from him and my 3 circuit harness and a bunch of posi products. He does excellent work very high quality.

Just to answer my own question.

There are 5 sleeved wires under the passenger section.

2 are obviously heading for the left / right turn signals
1 is a common ground

2 are thicker looser sleeves, one - on my bike - was tighter and actually had tape and was going to the running light.

The other one had 3 wires in side, blue-yellow-black. The yellow is the power, black is ground, not sure what blue is.

The three wires in that connector are as follows.

Black-Ground
Blue-Positive-running light (hot when key is turned on)
Yellow-Positive-Brake light (hot when brake is applied)

You can use positaps or another splicing method or Eastern Beaver sells a plug and play option to break out these wires from this connector. Be advised Eastern beaver is a one man show so you have to wait your turn if you want his stuff.

Hi, I plan to tap into my rear tail light wiring and posi taps seem to be a solid solution. My question is, what size taps do you need? AWG 14-16? Also, does anyone know where to buy them locally or are they mail order only. Thanks!

I will answer my own question. I purchased the 12-18 AWG grey positap connectors since I measured the OD of the wires and they appeared to be 18 AWG. The grey ones work fine. I suspect the red 18-24 AWG connecters will work too since there is overlap in sizes.

Also, here are the wiring taps you will need to make. There are already posts about tracing the cables so I won't repeat that:

Ground - Black (in brake light bundle or turn signal 2 wire bundles)
Brake light - Yellow (brake light bundle)
Tail running light - Bl/Rd - Blue-red dot (brake light bundle)
Left turn positive - Ch - chockolate
Right turn positive - DG - dark green

I used to posi taps and they work like a champ! Highly recommended. I had to buy off of eBay since no one carried them locally (Car Quest had posi lock connectors, but not posi taps). I hope this helps anyone else install strobes or a LED bar like I did.

I bought the admore large light bar smoked lens cost was $139.00 mounted right above the license plate & taped into the wires under the seat with the positaps that came with it. Quick install and real nice product. Adds a very bright running light plus flashing brake light and blinkers. I do a lot of urban driving and wanted to get noticed. This light bar more than doubled the amount of light over stock setup.

Cycle Gear carries these license plate frames, normal retail is about $80, but they frequently have them on sale for 50% off (I think paid $44).

Does anyone know where is the triangle wire connector for the wiring harness for the brake lights located?
Thanks, am trying to hook up a modulator and this harness connector is not under the passenger seat on my 2016 S10.
