I was watching the CBS Evening News tonight, and they were talking about the rising tension in Gaza and Israel. When showing a city street near Tel Aviv, I saw a random S10 police bike, with Givi top case. I told my wife, "look at that!", and had to pause the DVR to take a pic of my TV screen.

I don't see this pop up in threads much. A search shows some older topics, but I couldn't find anything recent. Any current knowledge of S10 police bikes being used? Any in use in the USA?

Saw this web photo on another site - french police. I've seen these bikes on the Tour de France coverage.

Wonder who's flashing their ECU's ?
I kinda want that back storage box.

Dutch police. I did a job with these guys and they are fun to hang out with. Being on the North Sea, these guys are the real "Bad Weather Bikers"

The Dutch also have medic units:

Tripped across the Belgies while looking up the Dutch photo:

and the Brazilians seem to:

looks like most of them are using those "junk" factory boxes
What kind of statement is that? Have you tried them? Sorry for the hijack. My buddy has the Yamaha Factory boxes on his and loves them!

How are they "junk"?

I got them on my '14 and they serve pretty well. They are water tight too.

Indeed not junk and probably perfectly sized for police use in threading between cars. I did an article for WebBikeWorld showing a crashed SuperTen that had gone airborne and landed on the top and side boxes, so they ARE strong.

I think the Dutchies made quite the upgrade, going from Honda Varadero to Yamaha SuperTen.

The Dutch have so many kinds and displacements of bikes between their multiple police forces that I wouldn't be surprised if they still have a bunch of the Varadaros.

+1 Alsoran,

In the past it's been primarily Kawasaki Concours and a few BM's that carry the press and police around the tight bends of the 23 day race. Nice to see the Super T show up for the job.

;) Ironically many European police forces [ and I've seen these for myself in Italy] are moving to the S10 from another under rated/ slated Yamaha - the TDM900- I had 2 and loved them. uch in common with the S10 especially the ability to engender passion and an almost evangelical following of "idiots" such as us on this site. Clearly all those police riders are also idiots! Don't want to be involved in bashing of Beemers or any other marque but quite happy now to smile knowingly and give a little shake of the head. Long may the 'idiocy' continue! ::008::

I would think European police would all be on BMW.

Outside of Germany - why?

Police forces all include the same questions we do about meeting requirements for mission, cost, and reliability.
