Super Tenere might not be the bike for me.

And the sudden interest in Yamaha building a junior Tenere with that awesome new triple..........frankly bothers me too. Not the kind of motor I think makes the best Tenere.
Remember Yam also showed a new "CP2" engine that looked like a smaller version of the cross plane crank 1200 in the Tenere. Maybe they'll build an 800cc+/- Tenere with Yam reliability, dealer network, chain drive, 21" front wheel, etc.

I'm expecting something like that at the Orlando intro. Of course, maybe thy'll use the new triple, or release a new US version of the TDM for all I know. But if I were in the market for a change, I'd wait and see what shows up.

CW had an article by Kevin Cameron concerning the new twin which was posted on this site. Since Yamaha does have a very long history of successful off road capable street legal motorcycles, I'd expect them to challenge BMW in the 800-900 cc area too. A little true competition for the 800 GS wouldn't hurt anyone. Then I'd have my Mini-Me. I think a lighter, slightly more dirt worthy version of the Super Tenere would be a hot seller. Everyone doesn't need a 575 pound 1200, and the WR250R, while a great bike, is certainly no long distance mount with that seat. Or any seat, since I have the Seat Concepts redo on mine, which still isn't good for more than a few hours. There's a vast space in between those two that Yamaha could capably fill. I'd like to see an entire Tenere line, based on the WR250R, a 450-500 single, then a 650-900cc twin, then the current Super Tenere. (with updates that are backwards compatible se we can get them!)

But I'm optimistic. (and destined for disappointment) We'll see.

I gave the wee a good long look, While I'd like one for how nicely priced they are I think in the end I'd still want more of a thinner bike. THE XTZ 660 looks amazing, it's almost perfect but it's not in the USA.

I might sell my bike, get a KLR to hold me over and wait for the XTZ 660 to come here.

I hope they don't go and throw a triple in the next dual purpose bike.

I hate to sell the tenere, I took care of the bike as if i'd keep it forever but I just find it's too fat or too low for some of the places I go. I even got the extended warranty on it.

:'(

No idea what to do. I think I have to sell the bike before it depreciates any though which sucks more.

I see that Yamaha is coming out with a triple. Looks like a lot of fun. Aside from that I had my Wee set up really really nice. I wanted more power and went with the S10. Value wise and the ability to throw it around on and off road, the 650 Strom is a great choice. Bomb proof, dependable and with the right tires is a very respectable ride, both on and off road.

You could always check your local area for a used F650GS Dakar, preferably a 2005 or newer. I had a couple and they are pretty straightforward, trouble-free bikes. Comfortable for touring and same capabilities as the KLR in dirt.

Just sold mine, keeping the Tenere and a 250 dirt bike instead.

A Wee can't even be mentioned in the same sentence as an 800XC. The Triumph would destroy a Wee anytime day or night in any condition except for strictly slow paved touring but still seriously under powered with evil handling and lousy brakes. Not to mention 95hp versus 60hp. ::26::

IMHO, the Wee is a great bike and for the cost of the 800, you could buys two Wees, one for each foot.

If you want to keep japs in your garage. I would go with KLR as the closest to the ST style. I had 1000 Vstrom before my ST and is a great bike but also bulky. The versys runs great and fast but seems like a racing bike in disguise.
