Everything is ready. In 7 hours we’ll be in the boat in our way to Sardinia. 9 guys with big bikes to enjoy the dirt tracks of this beautiful island.
Yesterday I pick up the bike from the dealer, with the new tires, Karoo on front and TKC on rear, the bike looks great. People thinks I am a professional rider!! ::) What a responsibility... hope to finish the trip safe…
I put all the luggage in the Giant Loop saddle bag, nearly 15kg, the tools and spare parts are so heavy…
See you in 10 days! ::003::

We just arrive from our fantastic trip in Sardinia. Really heavy off road tracks where a good test for my Super Ténéré. Now I'm completely sure I made a good decision buying this bike, it’s great!!
I put some photos in this thread:

They send me a new side tank protections and side decals for the plastic panels.
No doubt about the ones with the XT1200Z, they are better than the old ones but I’n not sure about the tank protections, with ones you like better?

The old ones

The new ones, bigger, following the level of the black plastic side but with a white space on the bottom

The new ones without the white space

More detail

You can see the difference between sides (left new, right old)

Just arrive this from the skid plate factory.
I asked them:
- Strong aluminium: this is 4mm
- Raid style to protect both sides engine and front pipes
- Fix to the frame, not to the engine
- Enough space between it and the oil filter
- Long enough to protect the catalyser
- Easy change the oil, its only 4 bolts
What do you think? Suggestions please before they make the first prototype.

I don't care for the box extension for the oil filter. I would rather see a shop make an oil filter relocation mount and that would solve many problems.
It does not look too bad, depends on the price.

is that a port to remove the filter? or do you have to remove the plate to remove the filter? is the interference with a fender extender considered?

I am really tempted to move the oil filter, is a pane in the ass.
But I can understand the manufacturer wants to make a skid plate for a standard bike.
They make this box extension to get closer to the engine so the skid plate gets smaller
No idea about the price but is a very large plate with a good thick aluminium so I doubt will be cheap.

It was the original idea but they decided not to make a port to be stronger. To change the oil only needs to remove 4 bolts so it looks quite easy.
They try to be as closer to the engine they can but leave a security space between the plate and the oil filter. We must try it but hope no problem. Also I need a good space because I want to put a 21” front wheel.

What I'm trying to say, is I would rather have a filter relocation, and then I could use what ever skid plate I could find.
Tell them to build that and I will be a buyer.

As far as skid plates go, any will do, except for stock.. ::025::

I know what you mean, I’m looking also to relocate this filter. But this people are aluminium craftsman’s, they don’t relocate filters, and once they develop a product they need who fits to the majority of bikes.
I don’t think all skid plates go. In a heavy bike like this it must be a very strong one. For example the Touratech I’ve got is completely destroyed after few months of use.

Ok, I'm waiting to the next evolution to test it. If you like more info better mail to the ACD Manager: Cedric acd_cedric@recamlaser.com
This could "help them" to work faster >:D

While I’m waiting this lazy guys finish the dual exhaust, the skid plate, the suspension, etc. I’m sill doing little things.
I install this fork seals. I had it in the DRZ and work fine. Easy install with the Velcro.

It also needs a new air filter. The OEM is not cheap so I bought a K&N who last a lot.

Finally I install the famous clutch switch that it seems improve the bike response in the three first gears. Hope to have time to have a good test.
I’m going to need a instructions manual to ride with all this switches.

I think the stickers are nearly done, you could ask to cescausio@motosausio.com

The skid plate needs more time but in this mail they can give you some information acd_cedric@recamlaser.com

Hope you make some pressure to this guys and they finish the products, they are too busy ::) ::)
