Strapping down the Kriega 10L to the Super Tenere

I got a Kriega 10L tail bag which is awesome and fits my tool roll, pump, and a case with plugs, fuses, etc. It has a little room to spare as well.

Anyway, the challenge I'm having is strapping it down to the bike so that it is done neatly and so that the whole thing can easily be removed. So far I tried removing the pillion seat and the bag now sits there, but the straps are not in the most ideal places (or so I think).

Has anyone had a similar challenge?

So far, I believe that if I remove the plastic plate under the pillion seat, I'll be able to get to the sub frame and strap it there. However, If I want to remove the whole thing, I don't want to be removing and putting on that plate.

Here's a few pics of what I have so far; as you can see, it is far from ideal.

Also, WTF is up with the gap left between the rider seat and the pillion seat when the latter is removed? Seems like a 1 inch space where all sorts of stuff can enter the compartment under the rider seat...

Attach the Kriega loop straps to the side hoops on the bike below the rear passenger seat, cut off the extra and singe fray with a lighter. I leave the loop straps on the bike all the time, and even use them with other brand bags and combos. They key is to get rid of all the extra to keep it clean, once you figure out who you wan position the bags. I've tried 10L,20L,30L Kriega bags this way solo or stacked, all using the same short loop straps tied to the side gray loops or tied to each other.

If you zoom in, in this orientation I used the 30L bag sideways, cram packed, with others stacked around it. In all cases, I've been able to use the same side loop straps attached to the bike, with hook straps up to the bag(s). Once you get use to it, it's actually faster on/off than other dry bag systems I'm testing now and it's very modular in different orientations. Good luck.

So you're going with the hoops under the pillion seat for strapping down? I was able to use one or two of them, but this bag is small and I don't think I'll be able to strap down all 4 to the hoops.

I guess I was looking for confirmation that the loops needed to be cut. I didn't want to accept the reality of it, but it does seem like the only way to have a clean set up is to cut n burn. =(

Not exactly. I remove the pillion seat when traveling on trips and sit the Kriega in its place, and affix the buckle straps to the separate loops straps on the bike. I bit the bullet too after watching a few videos where guys cut/burn the permanently affixed straps to the bike. Then I realized you can buy accessory straps from Kriega if you want to keep one set as new. After cutting mine, I''m not sure what I'd do with the excess, if I still had the straps in long form, dangling, or just having to tie them up and tuck them under - waste of time. Cut 'em! :)

Cut and burn is what I have done, but I've got lot of those straps. I use the TT plate for solo adv trips. Love the Kriega combo.
