streethawk , great report on your ride .... thankfully most rides for most are not as full of trouble , but your report shows that being calm and connected ( Yamaha forum members ) has great value in a successful trip being completed . that your bride is still enthusiastic about going on another trip in spite of the trouble , is a great blessing to you. you survived ,she survived , and a great trip has been had. imagine what your wife will tell her friends about this trip, priceless.
I suggest "Off " for the skeeters in your travel kit , an umbrella for sun and rain (imagine being in the heat with no shade for hours on in ) and inspect the mechanics work before leaving the shop . and slowing down ( it is the best way to ride and see ) to enjoy the ride is what its about. glad your home safe.
I had a dead bike when I left the movies once .... 5 hours before the tow got there .... I was at least in a shopping center. they just get to you when they feel like it I guess.
Madhatter, thanks so much for your warm and wise words sir.
A compact travel umbrella is an
excellent pro tip! I'm definitely going to do that ASAP! A sort of funny thing about the dealership work is that I'm usually extremely thorough with a follow-up inspection. We did however have to hurry back to my brother's house. I'd already caught the loose ABS sensor wire, over/underinflated tires and noted the irregular wheel weight placement in parking lot but pressed on after a quick check ride. When we got to my brother's house, it was late, and we had a family dinner planned. All
I wanted to do was take the wheels off for a more thorough exam. My brother and my wife assured me that my OCD was kicking in and that sometimes on rare occasions, you've "gotta trust the pros". That, plus dinner was getting cold and we had pack/prep to do before pushing off the next morning. Mannnnnnn, I should've
SKIPPED that dinner and went to town on the bike!!
My spidey senses
never stopped tingling. Even the rest of the trip! LOL! Should've went with my gut. Won't make that mistake again for sure! And you're right; my bride is a trooper and I'm glad we both came out unscathed with the bike upright. Especially considering all the logging big rig trucks
ripping on State Hwy 21 !!!
Counting my blessings indeed!
