Bottom line up front, looking to find a good repair shop in the Madisonville TX region most likely to have the S10's tire sizes.

The Mrs and I were en route to the Ozarks when a puncture took the rear tire out. I repaired the flat but the sidewall is deformed and not repairable.

I deflated and reseated the bead. Same problem. I'm thinking the load did the damage as it was losing pressure. Wife weighs approx 100 lbs. I'm about 205. Contents of all 3 OEM cases is about 35 lbs. Still, I decided not to chance a complete failure while limping to the next town with precious cargo on the back.

Gave in and called my insurance for a tow. 4 hours into the evening (Progressive really screwed stuff up!!) and MANY mosquito bites later, we got our tow. Currently at a hotel in Madisonville Texas and wondering if any of my S10 brothers and sisters might know of a good shop in this region of Texas most likely to have the S10's tire sizes in stock. There seem to be no adequate shops in the Madisonville TX area.

Thanks in advance all :)

The best option IN Madisonville looks to be the Kawasaki shop at 304 May st. If they can't supply, they can probably say who can.

I just posted a link to this on Two Wheeled Texans www.twtex.com Lots of riders in that area. Probably nearest shop will be in Huntsville.

I do have a extra tire on hand but it's a 50/50 Mitas E-07 Dakar and I am 100 miles away. PM me for phone number if that can help you.

Shop in Madisonville I believe is more of a side by side shop then motorcycle shop. Conroe/Houston or college station is better chance for tires.

*** UPDATE *** Family from the DFW area has come to the SUPER short rescue with a trailer!! Totally unexpected but definitely welcomed!! I'm now going to try to source a new rear shoe in the Dallas/Ft. Worth TX area. Chances should be decent there. You all ROCK!PXL_20221004_142131054.jpg

SilverBullet, thanks SO MUCH for extending the message. I'm not on TWT but if you'd be so kind as to share this update, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Just an update of sorts on this thread. The wife and I continued our journey to the Ozarks and had a GREAT time despite the hiccup! I ended getting new shoes put on at a Fort Worth dealership (Michelin Anakee 3). Unfortunately, the dealership's work was subpar, and I didn't discover exactly how subpar until we returned home, where I performed a thorough post service inspection. Long story short, the dealership tech left out or lost, the collar (spacer) on the right side of the rear wheel. His tightening of the rear axle then presumably flexed the swingarm's right arm a bit, causing brake caliper damage by the rotor being pushed too far to the left (!!) Photos/video of what I sent to the dealership can be viewed here: Freedom Powersports Tire Service Issue

In any event, a few days after the tire-ing affair, we were glad to finally make it into AR! Lol!

Geez, that sucks. I read your notes and looked at the pictures. I hope they do the right thing and compensate you for the trouble and replace the damaged rotor and brake caliper.

The tire emergency saw us arriving to the Ozarks during a biker rally ...not during the middle of the week as planned. Crowds were thick. Hard to sleep at night with Vance & Hines and Cobra pipes blaring til 3 in the morning :-/

Pig Trail on the way out of the Ozarks in AR. Obligatory! Hitting this scenic byway with a passenger was a nice change. I saw things I'd never seen before at the more mild pace :p

And this one's in the books. The wife did great for her first ever moto tour. 1,627 miles of great memories! She's already looking at Air BnBs for us to ride to next! ;)

Thanks for viewing Bill_C. I'm glad to report the dealership's service manager is in the process of sending me replacement parts (new caliper and rear rotor). I guess I'll know how bad (or if) the swingarm got tweaked when I install the rear wheel. If the collar doesn't fit, I can't imagine that'd be good :-/

LOTS of used H-Ds there but not a dealer. There was an H-D dealership right next door though (no affiliation).
Yeah, I don't know if you're aware, but every Freedom anything. car/truck/bike, is one huge entity. They buy underperforming dealerships and restructure to turn a profit. One by one, all the bike shops around here are being bought out. On the plus side, the dealership stays solvent. The negative side is that they reduce operating costs to the bare minimum. Which means they won't be paying for top techs.

Makes complete sense Sierra1. Thanks for the insight. I kinda got some RideNow vibes when I got there :-/ Freedom Powersports was pretty much the only dealership in the DFW area that could get the tires in the Tenere's "oddball" (their words - lol) sizes, the very next day. I would've much rather have taken it to a smaller, more quality focused shop but time was of the essence.

Many years ago Goldwing had flat front tire because of leaking valve stem, a Yamaha dealer In Illinois borrowed me a jack so I could remove the wheel-tire in their parking lot, had them replace the valve stem, they said no charge but I gave them a $20 tip, well they had bent one of the rotors but they already had 300,000 miles on them so I just installed a new set of rotors when I got home, a year later when I rode through that town the Yamaha dealer was closed and out of business.

streethawk , great report on your ride .... thankfully most rides for most are not as full of trouble , but your report shows that being calm and connected ( Yamaha forum members ) has great value in a successful trip being completed . that your bride is still enthusiastic about going on another trip in spite of the trouble , is a great blessing to you. you survived ,she survived , and a great trip has been had. imagine what your wife will tell her friends about this trip, priceless.
I suggest "Off " for the skeeters in your travel kit , an umbrella for sun and rain (imagine being in the heat with no shade for hours on in ) and inspect the mechanics work before leaving the shop . and slowing down ( it is the best way to ride and see ) to enjoy the ride is what its about. glad your home safe.
I had a dead bike when I left the movies once .... 5 hours before the tow got there .... I was at least in a shopping center. they just get to you when they feel like it I guess.
