Here’s one you don’t see too often. I dug up this photo of my old 1972 DT2MX250 on its first outing after restoration.
My first new Yamaha was a '73 DT3-MX. It looked just like this '72 except the stripe was yellow.

The next in line was a 73 CR250M Elsinore which I still have…it ran circles around the DT. :)

Nice! My first desert race was on a yellow stripe '73 250MX. Handled like a moving van with front end problems but it was fun once you got it lined up and gassed it!

Got my firtst Yamaha was a 1977 RD 400. Fire engine red. That thing would smoke most any 750 in the 1/8 mile. Heck of a bike and lots of good miles and memories of it. ::022::

The Super Tenere is my first Yamaha four-stroke - the two TZ 350's I had were the most fun EVER!!!!

This is "round-the-houses" racing in Geraldton, West Australia - 1980, I think...

I alway wanted a '66 YL-1 Twin Jet 100. A lot of the kids in the neighborhood had them, but I never was able to buy one. I now have a new one in my office at home! Never started, and still complete with the chaincase. The taillight had to be replaced and all I could find was the Japanese spec light not the U.S. version.

Another Yamaha lifer here...I came up on the quad (desert) side of the world, and Yamaha earned my brand loyalty with the Banshee (I bought a used 94 in 97, was the first one I ever bought for myself). When I finally moved over to the street, I found a clean used 89 Radian.

I like this thread, makes me feel realtively young having just passed the half century mark!

My first bike was a 1975 Yamaha DT100, brand new, bought with lawn mowing money. Since it was street legal and I was 15, my mom had to do the paperwork. She received Christmas cards from the dealer for years!!

I'd still have it if we didn't move so much (Air Force brat). Back then the service only paid for moving one vehicle, so it was sold off while I was off at college and my folks were heading to Germany...bummer. Not talking bad about the AF, I went on to do 12 years active duty before getting tired of moving and settling down. The last move involved getting 5 cars and a motorcycle from TX to VA.

I rode one of those around '89 ish. My father restored it from basically basket case. Really a kick in the pants to ride.
