My first new Yamaha was a '73 DT3-MX. It looked just like this '72 except the stripe was yellow.Twitch said:Here’s one you don’t see too often. I dug up this photo of my old 1972 DT2MX250 on its first outing after restoration.

Nice! My first desert race was on a yellow stripe '73 250MX. Handled like a moving van with front end problems but it was fun once you got it lined up and gassed it!Twitch said:Here’s one you don’t see too often. I dug up this photo of my old 1972 DT2MX250 on its first outing after restoration.
The next in line was a 73 CR250M Elsinore which I still have…it ran circles around the DT.

I now have a new one in my office at home! Never started, and still complete with the chaincase. The taillight had to be replaced and all I could find was the Japanese spec light not the U.S. version.

I rode one of those around '89 ish. My father restored it from basically basket case. Really a kick in the pants to ride.MGB said:My first bike was a 1975 Yamaha DT100, brand new, bought with lawn mowing money. Since it was street legal and I was 15, my mom had to do the paperwork. She received Christmas cards from the dealer for years!!
