If your not interested in buying the winglets, why would you post about a lower price? Would you want someone to do that on a thread where YOU are trying to sell something. I think not.adogarza said:You can pay $65.35 at Yamaha Sport Plaza for a new set...here is the link:http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemcatalogs/c/yamaha_motorcycle_street_2012_super_t_n_r_/yamaha_accessories-windshields
I don't want to be a downer neither..sorry :
No offence Japako but if I were the seller I would actually appreciate if someone told me that my price were higher than buying a brand new product. To me that's definitely not bad netiquette, but then I'm also only a poor "new pilgrim" on this forum...japako said:Would you want someone to do that on a thread where YOU are trying to sell something.
This seems resonable to me, although sometimes a (friendly) PM to the person listing the item may be the best way to convey the info.bnjon said:No offence Japako but if I were the seller I would actually appreciate if someone told me that my price were higher than buying a brand new product. Rod, It's only reasonable if it is done in a PM. Posting that info on a persons sales thread is not, and never will be reasonable. At least not to me. I think it is plain BS.ColoRider said:This seems resonable to me, although sometimes a (friendly) PM to the person listing the item may be the best way to convey the info.

Your right, you are new. If you want to tell a seller about a lower price on the items he/she is selling, do it in a PM.bnjon said:No offence Japako but if I were the seller I would actually appreciate if someone told me that my price were higher than buying a brand new product. Same thing on the F650GS forum. Saves the mods a lot of headache as well. Hint, hint...creggur said:Best setup for a sub forum like this was on VFRD - no comments were allowed so all communications in this area were conducted by PM. Keeps this kind of conversation from happening. Worked well.
I do get that, but what about letting other forum members know the facts - we need to respect the op but also respect the fact that a prospective purchaser doesn't want to get hosed and comes to the forum for information from like minded people, doesn't he/she?japako said:Your right, you are new. What is so hard to understand about that? It is just showing respect for the OP.
I have no problem, just pointing out what worked really well on another forum with a very active Trading Post. Keeps potential buyers from having to sift thought pages of off-topic sundry ( like this very conversation BTW) when looking to buy something.Dallara said:~
Geez...
We have one instance of this happening about once a year and the first thing folks wanna' do is literally outlaw posting in the sales threads. Bit like folks wanting to outlaw guns because of one shooting. So far the original poster hasn't complained... Not one peep of displeasure from him... So what, pray tell, is the problem?
In fact, if you look carefully, long before poor adogarza made his post (two days out of a two day thread) the very first person to reply to this thread pointed out a lower retail price to the OP, and that OP handled it without rancor or complaint. Instead he just laughed it off and moved on without clamoring for any useless net-nannying.
It's his thread, and his stuff for sale... And if he doesn't have any problem with what others have posted in it why should anyone else? :-\
