Under load when hammering throttle in low RPM's my bike has a soft but noticeable knocking ( or maybe stumbling ) sound and feel. Kicks up rapidly to smooth engine sound / feel.
The bike's always run that way. It runs "good," just noticeable sound & feel.

IS IT NORMAL? ::)

Had a failed attempt to flash here locally.
I was excited to see if it would make a difference but had to abort after discovering mechanic lied about his past experience. ( Lees Cycle ) I took the ECU out of his hand after him fumbling around trying hand wire plug ( adapter ) for 2 hours. Told me initially he had done a few :) then after an hour I asked how things were going. Then the story was he had to make a plug! I asked him why! His reply was that the S 10 he flashed was from Europe :D Another hour passes and I question him further. He didn't want to admit to.... ahum.... "misleading," me. ::) ::)
Dam liars! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

I know ECU-U's interface is a little "hokier" than the FT I use. They require the "flasher" to attach wires to the pins. My FT harness has the proper connector. The ECU-U is "universal" to all the bikes they flash whereas the FT is model specific.

Really it shouldn't be an issue either way.

I'm not sure if mine still does it or not, but for quite a while, if I got on it at relatively low rpms in 2nd or 3rd gear (really any gear between 2500 and 3500) it made a horrible knock like sound. I sync'd the throttle bodies and made the little airscrew adjustment and it seemed better. But, then again, I got scared of the sound and basically quit trying to give it much of any throttle below 3K.

Then I had it flashed and it seems like it doesn't do it anymore. It still has a bit of a knock'ish growling sound, but I'm not convinced it isn't intake noise. Anyway, I decided that since I wear earplugs I can't really hear it. Sort of a ::021:: thing. I figure that if the engine eats itself, I'll just never buy another Yamaha.

I read on the owners manual when traction control goes to play, both, the engine and exhaust may sound differently. I was able to confirm that on my moto, I hear the same knocking noise in the circumstances you mentioned, I am now under the assumption it is some sort of programed fluctuation on the injection... I am not worrying about it anymore. ::26::

Sounds more like you need to put real gasoline in there not corn oil. Try Octane Boost.
Yeap, dang Florida don't have anything over 93 octane ::010:: (which BTW is the one I use from day one)

PS. If I have to put octane booster on top of 93, what will I have to use when I travel to South America?!? ??? ::)
