Mark,

No need to get snarky about it. I have no desire to join the BMW club or the Girl Scouts.

Everyone has their own experience, I have been uninvited to events and it's a pain. I have a old buddy that is completely a BMW enthusiast and we can't go on any BMW events because I'm on the wrong bike. Not very hospitable to "guests".

Also the "club" is only one of the reasons BMW owners give the impression of being elitists. This is I know because I am one, but it has 4 doors, still can't go on those rides. >:D

Jeff..I don't think MarkJenn was being.snarky at all. Seems he is telling the truth, at least what I know as truth.
My local BAHNSTURMER mc group.doesn't give a crap.what you ride...as long as you are a.part of the group, integrate into it and ride.
We are a very loose bunch...but I have made very close relationships with these folks.
Many of them are my best friends.
I am sad that your experience has been one of.frustration and outcasts. That's not been my experience locally or nationally
With the BMW groups.I frequent.
Some.my best friends are on WWW.BMWST.com .. awesome bunch of folks.on there.
Perhaps a little.research will open your experience into a more.pleasurable one.
Best wishes and all.good things.

Not sure I could place an identity on Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki or Kawis....other than bullet-proof operation. I sure don't get the same marketing energy from Honda Owners of America that I did from HOG (who emphasized group rides, rallys and motorcycle safety)
Interesting, I see Yamaha through pushing the envelope every year for better or worse. From the success in Moto GP and WSBK over the past few years to the mass centralized engine of the YZ450f. And they have been pushing technology for years. May not be the bad boy image, or the BMW status symbol. It is harder to define a brand as diversified as the big 4, when you do so much well there is no one image. As for BMW I respect that it is trying to add a racing heritage to its image with the S1000R and through the acquisition of Husqvarna. My fear for BMW is that they are diversifying too fast with scooters, cruisers, sportbikes, electric cycles. I fear that this diversification may dilute the current reputation built upon touring.

A bit off of my initial post but an observation.
