Is anyone out there running a slip on and stock exhaust without a remap? i have a 2013. I got a stock exhaust off ebay and removed the cat and have a Yosh RS4 slip on. Anyone running this without a re-map?

Thanks,

Eric

I am, it is manageable. Fueling could be improved. As a note, I am running the yosh with the insert. If you run a slipon with the insert, it may be worse as there will be less back pressure.

I did for over a year. I did it in conjunction with the TB sync. Take your reference screw to 270 degrees from soft seat and then sync.

Taking the cat out, dunno, that to my mind messes with the flow too much and a remap should be done to compensate. Just a slip-on, sure, go for it, messing with the cat...

Missed that somehow. Agreed! Pulling the cat will change the flow rate, potentially. Reflash the map.

How does it run?

With a slip on alone there usually isn't too much concern as they really aren't much different flow-wise than a stock muffler. With the cat out...things might be different.

WOT is probably not TOO bad, the stock fueling is actually nicely rich on the TPS. Partial throttle is where you might find some leaner conditions when the bike is using the MAP to fuel.

I'm running a Remus can and found without the insert it had a slight flat spot and surging was noticeable (stock euro ecu) increasing co settings to 3 helped a touch but fitting the exhaust db insert fixed it on mine. yMMV

just to be clear... you removed the cat from the stock down pipes?
or are you just talking about the stock boat anchor yamaha calls a slip on?

At any rate, i've had the following with no issues:
art can -shit can
two bros-too loud, and needs repacking
custom made staintune-light, no repacking needed and sounds wicked, and has an easy to install insert if needed.

I checked my plugs at 37km, and at 51km. they are burning a white/gray, so a bit on the lean side.
My buddy is running an akro slip on, and his plugs were the same at 59km

Greg does it mean that at 51,000km you were still running the same plugs?

I have run my plugs for 22k miles and could of gone another 10k easily, but I was already in there doing a valve check so I replaced them.

51000km is about 30k miles.

As far as running a slip on. I have had a Leo Vince and no remap, but the header is stock with the cat in place. No issues.

Thanks Koinz. I know what the book says, but good to know what others do and the reasons. I have been changing mine every 20,000 kms. For the first time I let them be. I think I have about 30,000km and they still fire like new.

No I swapped mine at 37km.
I swapped my buddy's plugs at 59km, same ones since the bike was new.

is every 37km too often?
forgot what the manual calls for, but I'll swap them again, at my next vavle check, which should be at 90km.

My buddy's bike ran on the oem plugs till 59km.

Mine is asking why Yamaha decided that the plugs should be changed every 20,000kms. Then some folks here don't follow that. So I wish to know the significance of changing the valves often.
