Last year when I took the wind side deflectors off I forgot to take off the rubber bushing that the bolt screws to. Any idea where I can get a replacement?

They're referred to as "well nuts" over here in the UK and most modern bikes with fairings have their screens bolted into them. Any half decent bike accessory emporium should have them, usually sold in multiples with screws. I ended up binning the crappy plastic cross head screws that came with my side deflectors and replaced them with some black anodised allen heads that came with a generic kit I bought via Flea Bay. Makes removal and re-fitting much easier too.

My neighborhood Ace Hardware has them, which likely means your Lowes/Home Depot would, too. But you dealer will likely have them, too. I believe the Part # is 90387-07391-00. ~$3.50/piece ???

And mikey's right - they're technically called "well nuts" ::008::

Ahh you might be right - I just grabbed a bunch from my dealer (they were a helluva lot cheaper than 3.50 a piece though). I think these are 1.00 pitch (metric) well nuts, in the off chance they're in supply at your hardware store.

Best to just see if they're in stock at your local dealer and save the tail chasing for another day ::025::

The well nuts look like metal but I guess it doesn't matter, actually, I think they might be better than an expanding bushing.

Thanks!

If you have have the Yamaha Wind Deflectors you should be able to order them through any Yamaha dealer.

I just tried to install me deflectors. Anybody else have a lot if trouble installing the fasteners into the well nuts? It almost seems as if the screws are to large for the nuts.

Make sure that you have the right thread pitch...and well nuts here in the states are notoriously mis sized. I commonly end up with ones that are not any size, or as if the tap that was used was so worn that the 6mm fastener it was designed for will not go through. Whenever picking them out at an ace, use a bolt to pick good ones. If you order a box of them from a fastener distributor, just return the faulty ones.

Wellnuts are also known as expansion nuts. The size is M5 x .8, but here in the US you can substitute 10-32 American, which is the same size as the metric.
