Local dealer did some work for me against my better judgement. Was just trying to take some work off my plate.

Anyway, it appears that my differential has found itself in a parts washer or was otherwise soaked in solvent.

Check out the sweet new color.

Guess you better pull the swingarm and dunk it too.

You could go back and talk to the service manager, see what he says. I guess it really depends how much it bothers you.

Personally... ::021::

Blasted by a pressure washer? My friend got his DL1K's oil cooler "cleaned" by his dealer's pressure washer. Cleaned so well that it leaked. Hope you got no water/soap or solvents where it should not have gone. Not trying to be a pessimist here, just mentioning a possibility. Hope all remains well.

I don't see "considerable force" here. Things have to be pryed apart and that will leave marks. Looks fine to me. A little paint and off to the races.

I agree, especially on a bike with 27k miles.

As is always said, if you are THAT particular about HOW the work be done...there is really only one PARTICULAR person for the job...

the mileage is irrelevant. a mechanic that is too lazy or ignorant to use a shop rag between his pry tool and the finish will do the same thing on a new/low mile bike. i agree do it yourself but that is not always possible.

I only mention the mileage because realistically I find it difficult to believe this is the ONLY finish defect on a 27k mile machine.

Maintenance and repair leaves marks.

Take a look at your oil drain bolt. I bet it doesn't look like a brand new one. Rims get scratched and scuffed during tire changes. Fork caps get marred during service teardowns.

It's not a new bike. It's a used bike. If it gets used, it will get marks.

BS.....There's not enough room in that little crack to get a shop towel in. Get serious, wrenching on things leaves marks, always has and always will.

If a small scratch on the final drive upset you that much, I would have thought throwing it down on it's side would have put you in the ICU.LOL :))

Nope, not over that small scratch on the pry point. I bet ten thousand people could walk up, look at your motorcycle and never see it.

My last post here, I'm going back to reality. ::010::

Like I said, if you are upset, go have a conversation with the service manager.

Coming here and asking IF you should be upset doesn't really help. We all know you want to hear that you SHOULD be pissed and that the dealer better be buying your a new housing.

Reality: It's a pry point used for maintenance. It's going to get scuffed up just like your oil drain gets marred and your rims scuffed every now and then.
