Don't think I like it, personally. After about 300 miles, it starts to get uncomfortable. Of course, that just be my old, rapidly aging a%^.

Anyone else?

Since I always ride solo, think I'm going to pull off the pillion, convert it to more rack space and hope Corbin comes out with a solo seat before I go real distances.

So far I like the shape and the comfort of it, except for the non skid covering. My Alaska Leather sheepskin pad has taken care of that, however.

Fred,

Which pad did you get (medium butt pad deluxe?) and did you get a pillion pad?

Thanks.

Seat opinions are subjective but I think mine is a brick. Way to hard, poorly shaped, tilted etc. Changes will be made. So far the seat is the only real negative on the bike.

Im thinking it's like a bicycle seat, it takes time to build the muscles up. Once that happens it's much better. Just a theory or maybe wishfull thinking. Only time and many more miles will tell. Dang, all this research is tough. :)

I think the seat is pretty good. I might do the mod that tilts it back, but otherwise it's not bad. I'll be putting my sheepskin on it as well.

I have had the same medium pad that I used on my ST1300 and KLR 650. Works fine on the Super Ten.

I have been on two short+day trips now (181 miles and 234 miles) and I don't care for the seat. It feels like sitting on a "nerf" item.

I have had Corbins on all my bikes and I have loved them (I prefer a hard seat like a horse saddle).

I plan on upgrading as soon as Corbin has a seat for the Super Tenere!

Best regards,

Aggie85

I dig it.... I might be crazy but it feels a touch firmer than the Euro machine I rode last year.... But LOVE the bike... good seat !

I haven’t been on a long trip yet, but I really like the design of the seat…shape and firmness. I’m fine with the outer material; neutral at least. Inside of 200m, I’ve experienced no discomfort. In a couple weeks I’ve got a 400 ride and then at the beginning of October I’ve got 600 up to Barber, so we’ll see how it goes on those trips.

After doing my seat mod to change the tilt and lower the rear, I am much better with the position. That really made a big difference for me.

The seat cover though, I am not so sure. I don't think I like the grippy surface.
I am sure someone will come out with a cover at some point.

For those that have not seen my seat mod, here it is:

Take a look at this seat mod. It is a bit more complicated (and is a prototype) but you get more height difference and it is solid.
I found just removing the bumpers didn't give me enough tilt and it sort of rocks a bit as you sit on it.

Also I don't like the non slip, nor the square edges. It makes hanging off uncomfortable and what else to do when the pegs touch down so early?

After 1200 miles, with one 400 mile day, the seat is the only real complaint I have. I've been spoiled by Russell Day Longs on previous bikes and the S10 iis going to get a new Russell. This bike gobbles up miles and the stock seat really limits this for me.

Jury is still out on the seat for me. I am at 1000 miles with one 400+ mile day and I would tend to agree with you. I am spoiled by the Russell on my ST1300. On the ST1300 at the end of a long day the only thing not tired on me is my butt. Not the case on the Super T.

Not real crazy about it. The Sargent on my DR650 is way more comfortable. Downward slope on the seat is too much. I am currently using a Beadrider on it with okay results. Oh and I hate the gripper material on the seat, this should be reserved for 100% dirtbikes not streetbikes that look like dirtbikes. ;D

I did not care for the seat on the very first demo ride I took and nothing has changed. I get pressure on my femoral nerves (for lack of a better description) resulting in numb legs when I go to get off the bike after a long stint. I do not think it is anything that cannot be overcome. I will likely be shipping the seat off for a Spencer Mod come winter. Spkldoe has requested the same for her half. He did wonders for our FJR saddle.

So far, me and the seat are not BFF's. :(

I do not care for the gripper seat covering.

The slope really bothered me. I did SpeedStar's seat mod and that did help/fix the forward slope, but something about the seat still doesn't jive with my backside. Like someone else said, it may take some time for the muscles to get used to the new position/firmness/etc. All this is probably amplified by the fact that I came off a Corbin on my DL1000 which was very firm, nice and wide, and had a bit of a back lip to it.

I hope to have more options out there in the marketplace soon! Until then, I love this bike too much to let the seat keep me off it! Maybe in a few hundred mroe miles my butt will "break in". :-X Wait..... that sounded bad....

I think this seat is great call me crazy, But having a gel seat on my Vee and then the seat on my versys this thing is real comfy. My Versys After 80 miles I start getting monkey butt, My Vee I could do 700 mile days on with little pain. I have only ridden the ST little over a 100 mile stint and found no discomfort. I also have the seat in the high position, I feel like I am sitting on top of the world with it. I have not noticed any forward lean as a few are talking about. What position do you guys have it in and feel the lean?
