An interesting insight to the markup margin perhaps?Interesting the recall installed switch is only $13 part according the the invoice Alan posted, where the old switch was $75 or so.

My Super Tenere is doing what you wrote. The cruise will work if I never touch the front brake. The cruise light will start flashing and not work once the front brake is used. So, the last time I rode......turned on the cruise once on the move and worked as long as the front brake lever was not applied. That is not practical and I am waiting to have my switch replaced after it warms up and the 10 inches of snow melt next week. Are you guys seeing the rear brake light stuck on with a defective switch? I just started getting a CC issue (won't set about 2/3 of the time, though the amber on/off indicator works fine every time and no fault codes); but the brake light definitely isn't illuminated when the CC isn't working. In other words, can the switch go bad without resulting in activating the brake light?
I could be wrong, but the second letter has the updated XTZ applicable years. Was '18-'20, now is '14-'20.Just received a second, identical notice from Yamaha. And they even had the same date. I guess they really want me to fix it. . . .
I was thinking the same thing.I could be wrong, but the second letter has the updated XTZ applicable years. Was '18-'20, now is '14-'20.
Got the same response from 2 local Yamaha dealers. Would need to drop off the bike before they would order the part, with no idea how long it would take to arrive. Since this is prime riding season, and I haven't noted any problems, I may wait until winter.I have a 2014ES, and got the recall notice. It's hard to imagine anyone with a CC equipped Tenere older than 2020 not needing the recall, to be honest. It seems that getting the word out is just a bit hit or miss. (Then again, I suppose Yamaha could have 2 different suppliers for the switch, and a manufacturing issue with only one of them.)
Anyway... my lame-ass dealer won't order the part or make an appointment to do the work until I first drop the bike off - just to keep things as inconvenient as possible. (Surprised, as I would think having to deal with storing my bike for several weeks - or more - would be inconvenient for him, too.) Good times...
That was why my tech couldn't believe it when I told him that some dealers required the bike to stay. He said of all the switches that he's replaced, none of them had faulty brakes as a symptom. . . . just CC issues. My cruise control started acting up a few weeks ago. . . .
