Well you can blame the heated grips, or the headlights, or some accessory, or the throttle position, or anything other possible excuse. I blame Yamaha for building such a crappy starting system. After nearly 100,000 miles on Tenere’s I Recently installed a lithium battery in mine and it finally doesn’t sound like the battery is half dead every time I start it.
That's interesting. I have a Harley 1200 sportster that I recently installed a lithium battery in and actually not happy with it.
It seems to need 'waking up' in that it won't turn over the engine on first depression of the start button, if I stop the cranking, switch off, and restart, then it turns over quickly.
I find that a bit unnerving, so I was reticent to move to lithium on the S10, maybe because the Harley is a Vtwin? Needless to say, the 'actual' condition of the AGM battery is palpable in what it will and won't do, whereas I don't know with the lithium.
I always use fully synthetic oil in an attempt to reduce friction on cold starts, you may say it has no effect over mineral-just my two cents worth.
With regard to the heated grips-fair point, I don't know how that happened, but the lights-I can't turn those off to start the S10, how do you do that?
