I do not think you will lose many kg, the worst part of the S10 is taken by the chassis and the rear arm ... comparing it with other lighter ones
Agreed. That frame picture says it all. It's gusseted/reinforced everywhere. To me, it's surprising that she doesn't weigh more when compared to others. BMW has well documented drivetrain failures; I had two on the same bike. I haven't heard/read about any Tenere drive shafts breaking, and looking at the picture. . . . no surprise. There's really not a lot of removeable pieces that would reduce her weight. She is what I refer to as a "brick shithouse". Can't break her, can't beat her.

. . . . But it's no streetfighter. And chopping up the fairing doesn't make it so.
I wasn't familiar with what a "streefighter" is/was. But, when I looked up the term. . . .
A streetfighter is a sport bike that is customized by removing the fairing, and making other changes that result in an overall more aggressive look. ...

So, I am assuming that streetfighter, and hooligan are synonymous?

you may be right..

i thought the swingarm assembly on this bike was revered for its low weight. chassis is beefy for sure. i'd be up for hacking a lot of that off.

what's the engine weigh?

I'd be real surprised if true wet weight with luggage between the tenere and R12xxGS bikes wasn't within a couple dozen lbs.

The last numbers I saw was 585lbs for the Beemer, and 612lbs for the Tenere. But, the Tenere is called the heavy one. I'll take the extra weight in exchange for the indestructability. 'Cuz, to me, the weight disappears once she starts to move.

yeah man that point, it's a few percent.

the tenere you just put gas in it, and it takes you places. mine has 87,000 miles on it, and it runs amazing. it's been off road, it's been down, it's been neglected on long trips, and it keeps clattering away happily. my airhead GS was constantly needing work. I couldn't get ahead of it. It does seem like the waterboxers are a bit more reliable, but they're not yamaha reliable.
