Yep, that's how I feel too!

Now that we're ready, it's a bitch that Deon and Rollbend is not. Still, we are a small fish in their pond and this international shipping is a new thing for them, so I'm trying to be patient. I am waiting for an invoice and method of payment, and will then fire off how much funds to send me and how, (PayPal is preferred), so that we can make this deal happen. It WILL happen shortly. And if the bars are what we expect and hope for, another batch will be ordered on spec shortly after we receive the first batch. But that's another deal...

Update - I got the pro forma invoice and forwarded it to the customs broker to get that paperwork started. More info has been emailed to the four gents involved in this order with me. For the rest reading, things are moving forward and hopefully will continue to go well.

If this goes well, and the product is as good as we expect, there will be an opportunity for people to get more bars, but w/o all the waiting and BS. I'm just going to order another 5 sets thru my business. IF this happens, I will post in the Vendor section where it belongs and put a short note here to let anyone still watching this thread know they are available.

I ordered befor Christmass and recieved the Rumbux two weeks ago. Just got to assemble last weekend. Verry impressive and solid feeling. It is a tight fit with little room for the oil fillter. So I am looking for a shorty filter to replace the existing one, should not be a problem. Rollbend in consultation with their African customers have eliminated the oil drain and filter access holes, as the Africans have had issues with sharp sticks and pointed rocks entering throught the access ports. Not a biggy as I would perfer to remove the skid plate not only to change oil but to inspect the sump etc.. Have noted that the lower mounting bar of the lower section has a near perfect location for highway pegs. So I am in the process of having a spring loaded passenger peg (s) mounted as soon as I can have an angled bracket machined to fit.

Thanks for the info on the elimination of the drain plug/filter ports, Salty.

EricV has been lining up buyers, and I'm potentially among them. Given the lack of information from previous buyers (and the marginal amount of information on the Rollbend/RUMBUX website), I've been hoping an owner would provide some first-hand information prior to the group buy.

Was your price in line with what was quoted to Eric? How much ground clearance do you figure is lost? The oil filter clearance issue you mentioned -- is the stock filter touching, or perilously close to the skidplate? And finally, does the additional weight feel ponderous? I have a friend who installed the Givi bars, and he claims that the additional weight is more than noticeable.

Thanks,
- Mike

Good day fugawi . The only comment on weight I can make is that it is not apparent rolling around the garage, we are in winter here and black ice and salted roads are not favorable for riding. Price is what was quoted by Deon, what local taxes, duty and handeling charges are added will be in addition to this ?. my total was $ apx $650.00 Cd.
Ground clearence loss would be aproximately 1 inch less the thickness of the OME skid plate removed. This is not an issue with me as I won't be bush wacking.
The OME oil filter has about a 16th of an inch clearence, hence my wish to find a shorty replacement, although I belive it would take one hell of a wack to bend the skid plate to a point of damage. If hard core off roading is what you are doing this system I belive is top shelf along with Jaxons s. plate.
Note, if you want extra sump clearence, you could negotiate with Deon at Rollbend to move the skid plate from its current inboard position to an outbord position on the frame.

I forgot (1) the inch loss of ground clearence is at the 1 inch frame tube only.
(2) those of you sporting driveing / spot / fog lihts, might want to consider the Rollbend mounting brackets made for this system. I did very strong units.

Come on Salty, share some pics of your new set up. I don't see the light mounts on Rollbend's web site and this is the first I'd heard of those.

Eric,

From the RUMBUX homepage, clicking on Galleries links to a page of pics. Among those are 4 photos of the 'Spotlight brackets', although the brackets are not listed under Products. With no specific description of the dimensions of the bracket, I'm not sure if my PIAA lights would mount to it. Salty might be able to provide the width of the light mount itself.

Having the clearance loss spec is good, and I'm surprised by the 1/16" clearance between the skidplate and the oil filter. I suppose there might be a shorter filter available.

Salty,

Thanks for all the info thus far. Was the cost of the light brackets included in the price you stated?

Thanks,
- Mike

I stand corrected. The 1/16 of an inch I stated, seemed to be a little more of a concern than I thought. I have now measured the gap, which is difficult to see, never mind measure, with a feeler gauge and report a tight 1/8 of an inch, as best as I can manuver in this space. The brackets measure 3 inches accross the inside. The lights I have are PIAA OME.
Pictures to follow, when I get my camera battery charged.

Ah, I have been working thru the Rollbend web site and hadn't gone to the Rumbux site. Some different pics there. I see the brakets. Sturdy looking, but I think there are a lot of options in the US market as well. I sort of prefer to mount lights where they won't be the first thing smashed in a drop or mild crash.

Good to know. I suspect that the skid plate can be spaced out another 1/8" pretty easily if you wanted to just put some thick washers under the front between the bars and skid plate. Might require slotting of the other mounting holes, but we are only talking about 1/8".

On the shorter oil filter, you might measure the Bosch 3323 and SuperTech 7317. Both fit and sealed on the FJR, so should also work on the S10. IIRC, both of those are close to the 2.5" length of the Yamaha filter.

Update! We did get the lower price. We have the new invoice and I am waiting for payment from two parties in the deal.

Fugawi needs to decide where the fug is he. ;) If he bows out, that opens the door for DaFoole to get in on this order. He has next right of refusal.

DevilAnce - I need your funds ASAP please. Or let me know if you have a change of heart.

PMs and emails have been sent.

We are on track for this to be a $500/set deal. Individual shipping may add a small amount. That won't be known until we sort the airport fees and I figure out individual shipping costs.

Thanks for reading along folks.

Hey Salty! Got that camera battery charged yet? Would LOVE to see your pics.

If possible could you get a close up of where the oil filter / skidplate gap.
Then I can estimate how much dremel work will be required on the lower plate bolt holes to allow for the spacer washer.

Thanks for the effort Salty. I have issues too with that, so just go to www.tinypic.com and upload them there, then copy the IMG link and paste it strait into the forum post. No need to use the image link here, just paste in the code. Easy for me, and the tinypic site re-sizes for you, just choose the forum selection and you don't have to mess with anything. I like simple!

Agreed. Web storage is the way to go. I use Photobucket, but the choices are many. It sure beats having to resize the picks so you can 'attach' them to the forum..
