I can't seem to find a thread that's solely dedicated to showing S10 repaints. Flame me and kindly point me in the right direction if you know otherwise.

While I enjoy the visibility and conspicuity of the blue, it may just be time to mix things up a bit and stickers don't do a thing for me. Photoshop helps recoloring to a certain extent, but I'd like to see what's actually out there... Or maybe these things are just appreciated as they are and that stuff's not going on quite yet.

Thanks.

I've been thinking about doing mine in truck bed liner. I wonder how much Line-X would charge me if I bring them the tank, upper fairing pieces and the front fender? I couldn't be much.

You should know that most of us are just a bunch of old goats who are past even keeping our bikes clean, much less hue conscious.
In fact, we might be more likely to just trade or buy a different color, than paint the one we have.

What I'm really saying is I've been around here a while and I know there isn't a thread of that kind.
Although there was a chap who painted his Tenere Yellow. With the classic Black Yamaha graphics.
Looked like Yamaha bumble bee. Nice.

I think it's Hoebster's

That'd be good to see and I also think it couldn't be much. Have seen it on KLR's and it looked just fine.

You're right. Old goat here too and just looking at the topic kind of like wallpaper. Thing is, I enjoy the bike so much and don't really see the value in buying a replacement quite yet, even if the new one's were on the floor. Dandy job that yellow one. Thanks.

Oh, and I've always been good about cleaning my bike every time it rains.

Travex look in the modification forum and search red tenere. That's what my bro in law did. Looked good to me. Hoebsters looks good too. As long as I plan on keeping this bike mine will see some new paint eventually.

To me repainting is the ultimate sin. It shows the motorcycle was either wrecked or neglected terribly over the years. This may not in fact be the case of course, but 95% of the time it is, so the 5% that repaint just for fun look like the old wrecked neglected ones forever even if they weren't. Not what I would do ever to a motorcycle.
If guys think I'm a little bit over the edge in my dislike of farkles, don't get me started on the paint thing. Much worse. :D
Actually Ron, I'm shocked to find out you use a Wolfman tail bag.
Surely if Yamaha thought the bike needed it, it would have come with one?

You are a trip dude. :)
One of a kind.

A guy on Advrider did his KLR with rattle can truck bed liner and it looked pretty good in pictures. But, there's no turning back from this one.

I agree with others. Most of the time a repaint lowers resale value. I can only imagine how bed liner would affect resale.

I have been having serious thoughts of changing my 12 blue to candy lime green. Love that on my 09 versys.

I wonder how well Plasti Dip would hold up. I've seen some nice results on cars, with people even painting wheels. Peel it off if you change your mind.

Thanks True Grip. Didn't find them in that search in mods but they showed up in google. Found a tan one in addition to the red. I'm considering Desert Tan, Deep Forrest Green, or Deep Burgundy.

Yeah, Ron mine was totalled and beat to shit too!!! It was horrible, we opened the cardboard and metal crate it was in, rode it home, 2 weeks later went on a cruise to Alaska while it was painted, installed WASP decals, came home from cruise, sent wife off to Hawaii while I rode it 2000 miles to Yellowstone in 4 days for a nice ride. I have said before, I don't like black, and enjoy blue even less. It was hard to decide whether to go white with red decals, or the vintage Yamaha Yellow look as you see I did go with. I get compliments on it about Kenny Roberts often. I did it for me, not for compliments. It isn't clean, maybe gets washed about 2 times a year. Other than that it is mine, and rare to see another one out there like mine.
And, of course I don't have to be involved in the blue/black faster-cuter-fatter-dumber-slower conversation many of you-all have going on.
Enjoy!!!

I don't have too many pics, just some here and there. It is a pain for me to upload pics to some web-site, then load to here instead of just loading off of my computer. AARRGGHH!!!!

HoebSTer that was a fine post. After having looked at several pics of your bike a short while ago I have to compliment you. Nicely done! Looks like one in a million and it smacks of Yamaha. Kinda futuristic XT-ish to my eye.

Yea, but Hoebster, you gotta be losing sleep over how much someone is going to pay you someday for your Yellow bike.
I bet every time you get on it you are haunted at its escalated depreciation.

Just kidding, of course. :) (razzing Ron. Although I enjoy his take on things)

I gotta tel ya, the whole resale value equation rarely has ever crossed my mind in all my decades of consumerism.
Probably has cost me somewhere. Never kept a spreadsheet on it.

Besides, I rarely sell anything. Keep it, or give it to somebody who really needs\wants it.
Goes for cars-trucks-motorcycles too.

Anyways, I've always really liked your Tenere. Nice job.

Jeff did a really nice job on his Yellow S10. Of course, it did take two tries to get the color he wanted. >:D

Color was not a factor when I bought mine. I didn't know what color it would be until they called me to come pick it up. Just knew it would be blue or black. I've cleaned it now and then, but honestly never washed it. Gravel driveway, so washing the bike in the driveway = mud tracked into the garage. It gets maintained and ridden. Besides, rain rides count as a wash, right? :D

Have fun with the paint scheme. I think your color choices would all look great. If it makes you smile, it's a win. Screw re-sale. Ride it until it's only worth as much as a good running salvage bike.

If you want to go with a deep burgundy, Honda's Candy Glory Red is probably the sweetest color I've ever had on a bike. Any pic won't do it justice, you really have to see it in person to appreciate all the facets of metal flake and color mixes in this paint.

If I ever do a color change on my Tenere it will be this color...

That's a fine suggestion to be sure, but I'd have to change a molecule somewherer'tother as putting H on the Y is just wrong. ::003::

Put Honda emblems on it and try and keep a strait face when you tell people it's the new TransAlp. ;D

What are folks thoughts on doing a "wrap", rather than paint? My concern would be the prep of all the plastic to etch it enough for paint durability...

Maybe I'm way off on a tangent here. Don't shoot me.
