Apparently my VIN is showing no ABS on my new S10. $80/year difference.

Anyone else had this problem? Need to figure out a good way to provide proof.

The bike is not available without ABS. Insurance company needs to fix their database, maybe you need to tell them that ALL S10's have ABS.

Already told them that :)

I'm sure we'll get it sorted out. Just curious if anyone else has run into this. Insurance co is AllState.

It is just Allstate.. In the early days most of the insurance companies were quoting the bike as a sport bike. I had a quote of around 1300 bucks. ::025::
I finally found Nationwide and got my insurance. I heard Geico was giving good rates..

Thanks...I'll check into those. I just recently switched to AllState...would be a shame to dump 'em so quick.

you would probably be shocked to hear what I pay for insurance (way more than 1300 bucks). Those of us who live in new york city pay for it dearly

Yep, I would choke on that.. Don't think I would want to live there. ::025::
The insurance on my 07 Wing was less than 400.00, so when they quoted 1300.00 I was a little shocked.

Ask your agent to check with the manufacturer. If they won't I am sure another agent will.

thanks I'm sort of skeptical, but I'll check it out. For the record, I had a broker who checked many different companies and progressive was the cheapest but still over 2 grand annually. but I have full comprehensive and collision.

By the way, are you in manhattan? I am. K&K appears to be in staten island. There will probably be a significant difference between staten island and manhattan

I was using progressive for all my bikes until I got the Super Tenere. Progressive underwrites that bike as a Super Sport and wanted 1797 a year for full coverage on the bike.

so I started to shop around geico was 1400
allstate was 1110
K&K has some good reviews, my dealer actually recommended them to me when I told them what progressive was going to charge.

Yes I'm in Staten Island, Full comprehensive, Full Collision, 100/300 with a 500 deductible.
It will be slightly higher for your in manhattan but you're looking at a savings that amounts to brand new zega pro panniers ... or something close

Yeah I think she means the VIN lookup in their database, not actual VIN decoding. She said it automatically pulls the safety discounts using the VIN numbers...so their database is just wrong.

That number is absurd!

Geico's online quote spat $590/yr at me last night, full maxed out coverages w/ mid-road deductibles. Might go that route if I can't work something out with my agent. She's quoting me $930ish...or $850 if it had ABS.

You may want to try Nationwide. You can get a 10% discount if you belong to the AMA. If you have a good driving record and good credit, you should be around 400.00 full coverage. I'm in Texas and considered to be in the Metro Mess. I don't commute so that may save some money.

I've been using Progressive for my bike insurance since 1999. For the S10, they came out a bit under $400 for 1 year's full coverage in the DC metro area.

What kind of coverage are you getting? What limits? I went with Progressive because they handle motorcycle insurance for USAA members. I have a clean driving record, attended motorcycle safety training, am a motorcycle police officer and the best rate they could give me was 1600 per year. I called a second time to ask someone to verify these rates, which sounded very high, and was given the same numbers. Of course, the limits I have are 300k for under insured and non insured motorists, but 1600 seems awfully high for a 45 year old with my record. The kicker is it won't cover anything related to an on duty motorcycle accident. What the heck?

Everyone... You have to understand, the rates are different for the areas you live in. If someone lives in the boonies of Ohio the rate will be different for someone in the city of Los Angles or New York. You need to find the best rate for your state and county.
Hope this helps...
