My S10 is a standard uk spec 2011 bike with 8.5k. I ride with the yam top box and a givi screen. Most of my riding is motorway or dual carriageway stuff, 200-300 miles a day when I take the bike. Where traffic allows I sit at about 90-95 and at this pace I get 42-43 mpg(uk gallons). If I do more single carriageway miles or there is a lot of roadworks/traffic I get 45mpg. The best I've managed was 47mpg, but that was in freezing and snowy weather.
I'm still waiting for the UK ECUnleashed agent to start doing reflashes and will see what effect that has on my mpg.

spirited driving in "S" mode...mostly out of town, hard top roads 55-75 mph
OEM stock bike
213 miles before light - fueled with an additional 7 miles totaling 220 = 4.56 gallons = 48 mpg
Jesse bags attached for more than 1/2 the miles
Parabellum 22" windscreen
Must be a regional thing, because my results pretty much mirror his

After just having done my ECU, my MPG have risen slightly as well. My fuel meter on dash rose quickly as if there was an instant increase in MPG. I will have to get out and run through a whole tank of gas to see how good it really is.

Keep in mind for all who have Auto Tune that you can 'tune' a leaner map and get even better fuel economy if you like..

At 1,600 miles, I'm getting approximately 50 mpg in mixed riding (interstate, urban, dirt, two-lane country). This is with the stock screen and little or no load besides me and my riding gear (total probably 175 lbs). I probably do 50% in touring mode and 50% in sport. At 450 miles, I changed to Yamalube 20-50.

From watching the "continuous" mpg readout, I would expect mid-to-high 40s at 80 mph, but much better at lower speeds (of course).

I'm assuming that all of my fuel has been 10% alcohol, but I've now found some "pure" gas sellers, so I'll report back if ethanol-free fuel seems to improve fuel economy. Of course it will be impossible to "prove" any sort of cause and effect, because of so many uncontrolled variables, one being an engine that is changing (getting better it seems).

That you, Jac?

Remember we do still have the 650GS and silver CS, so not BMW-free.

I did have seen 5 lt /100 km average on my first long distance tour. Comparing to GS fuel averages, ST is a bit better on the consumption, no big differences though. I did get impressed with power/economy, was expecting a 990 Adv performance on the fuel consumption ::) ::26::We should not be expecting a 4 lt average fm a 1200 cc monster, eh?

My fuel milage is opposite. My GS1200 consistantly gives me 60mpg Imperial and the S10 about 50mpg Imperial. Only have 2300kms on my S10 and its still tight. It may improve. ::001::

The last ride I did, nothing changed from the last ride. same speed, about the same kind of road except the temperature averaged about 8 Deg C not 20 and

drum roll please......

My consumption increased 10%

Looks like even the Amazing Aussie bikes get the cold temp consumption increase, although I did do the last third on 98RON come to think of it. ::)

Damn, I'll have to go out and do it again on 95RON just to be sure ;D

Looking at Fuelly, I appear to be about right in the normal range. Im getting 39-41 mpg on every tankful, S or t mode, road trip or riding to work. Still better then the Dodge.

On my recent trip to CO the bike got up to 54mpg and coming home in a very hard cross wind, as low as 36mpg..
If I keep it below 4k rpm it will do 44mpg.

The reviews of the original Super Teneres talked about 45ish MPG. I see the stickers on the newer Super Teneres says 40 MPG.

My Bike now has 23000Km's on the clock and the fuel average from new is 6,1l/100km.I think that is pretty decent considering we do some high speed cruising this side of the world when on tar.Offroad consumption drops to about 5,3-5,4l/100km.

After reading this I decided to measure a few tank fulls, the best I got was an indicated 48mpg, this was boosted by a dull run to the dealer for a service which involved mucho motorway and well policed 40 / 50 zones, in fact after this trip it was showing 51mpg, but a bit of fun on the way to work dropped it down. The other two tanks gave and indicated 44 and 45 mpg with a mix of solo and two-up riding, the 44mpg was two-up with full luggage and motoring at a pace to get me ouuta the rain ASAP - a speed I know the GS would have been a shade worse.

I have been brimming the tank as far as it will go to try and elminate any filling errors and my calculations have showed the bike to read about 5% high with the following bike vs measured:-

48.1 - 44.9
45.2 - 42.3
44.2 - 42.1

It seems typically I do about 165 miles to the "reserve" however after doing another 10 miles (1 litre) I can still only get 18.5L in the tank, which suggests with 4.5L left at 9.6 miles per litre it would do 200 miles per tank.

This is pretty good as I know I will do better on longer runs when touring, the GS was awful at an indicated 90mph running 42-43mpg on the "if only" metre (I never did a scientific accuracy test) and would be showing the fuel warning at about 140, so the Yam has definately got a good range advantage. On my steadier run I actually filled up at 195 miles and only got 19.2 litres in the tank.

I would never trust the last litre though as I have had issues before where a bike would not run the tank dry and stopped dead with a good amount of fuel still sloshing about in the bottom.
