Picked up my new Super T today and rode it 55 miles home. Everything great except the seat and I don't get along. I have a problem with most motorcycle factory seats and this one is among the worst. 55 miles and my butt is burning still three hours after getting off the bike. Home in FL is 600 miles from cabin in NC. No way I can do it stock. Have to order a Russell sooner that I thought.

Congrats on your new purchase. I guess I have a Yamaha XT1200Z butt because this is the best seat on a stock motorcycle I have ever owned. I hope you like the rest of the motorcycle half as much as I do. Jeans do not do well on this seat but riding gear does for me.

I would like to know what you think other than the seat

Other than the seat I like it. For me its like sitting on a board. Spent the last 30000 miles on a Goldwing so it's going to take a few more miles to bond with it. So far I am happy with it.

I'm looking forward to a Sargent or Corbin.

i had the seat problem just like u mate. easy to cure, its the slight forward tilt, take the seat off and lower the rear gromits as much as possible and u will be riding a full tank of fuel with no pain ::008::
theres a thread on here somewhere about the forward tilt, ill find it, here u go read this, and enjoy the bike ::001::

This is the FIRST bike I have ever considered purchasing for the specific intent to "tour" the world. :)

In fact, my own personal opinion is that it may be the single finest example of a 2 wheel 2 person transport capable of traversing (touring) the entire globe in a safe, reliable, and comfortable manner, regardless of weather or road conditions. And I use the word "road" very loosely. LOL

Anyways, welcome to the new owner! You will be amazed at just how capable this machine becomes the more you ride it. Be safe and have many adventures.

Well if you have never had a Goldwing it's easy. Just don't let your wife set on the back of one and the Super Tenere feels like a Goldwing compaired to a KLR. ::025:: The only thing is it is very hard to get them back on the KLR. ::015::

Congrats. Glad to hear you picked up your Super Tenere.

There are some good reports and photos floating around in here on the Russell Day Long seat. Some other guys got the Corbin. Last I heard on the Corbin was that they had a passenger seat on the way too. Sargent up in Jax also has a seat coming out in the Spring that I’m waiting to take a look at and consider. Having said that, I’ve been okay with the stock seat and it actually seems to be getting better as time goes by. I’ve done a couple six-hundred mile days and thought it was something I could live with if I had to. Still want to check into the Sargent though considering I’m running the thing up to the Yukon Rally next summer and that’s a whole bunch of six-hundred mile days.

I too wasn't a big fan of the stock seat but after a couple of thousand miles it has become bearable. Either my ass is getting tougher or the seat is breaking in. Anyway do the Speedstar seat mod. Really does help and it's free!

Congrats on taking delivery of your SuoerT!! I'm not fond of the stock seat, even after 4k miles, but found that by reducing the forward tilt and adding a sheepskin cover, it's "tolerable". I will invest in a Sargent saddle when they become available.

Good luck!

I have not had an issue with the seat at all. This is perhaps due to the prolific ampleness of my @$$. I have a sheepskin thinyg over the seat and I find it more comfortable than my ST1300 seat. I guess it all depends on the size and shape of your butt. I find mine very comfortable. Of course, if someone were to BUY FOR ME a nice new custom seat, I'd probably really like it. Sadly, that won't get the job done. I was thinking of a totally extraneous source. ::008:: ::003:: ::001:: ::015:: R

I've spent my last 30,000 miles on a goldwing too and even goldwing guys can't stand the seat sometimes. For sure the tenere seat is no goldwing, but better than most, but for sure the goldwing is not leaving my garage so I can ride with the wife on the tenere. Love my new tenere though and the seat works for me personally pretty well, but I see guys getting rid of the FJR1300, Goldwings ect for the tenere and just can't quite grasp the thought of using the tenere as a touring bike. I have a hard time doing a 100 miles on a stock Goldwing seat. I have had quite a few bikes and most factory seats don't work for me. Not enough meat on my ass I guess. Russell is the beast I have tried. Have a Russell on my Goldwing and ride the 600 miles to my cabin in 8.5 to 9 hours with no problem at all. I am going for a 6 month ride in 2014. Have just about decided to do it on the Tenere. No doubt the Goldwing would be much better at just eating up hiway miles but when i get to the dirt road I am sure I will be very happy that I am on the Tenere. Will have to sleep in a tent instead of the Aspen camper though.

Z06. Just in case you have not yet tried, put your seat in the high position and go for a ride. Night and day difference for me.

My experience with aftermarket seats ( and windscreens ) is that unless you get the exact seat for your bike that works for you, you will have wasted your money. A Sargent might be perfect but then again not and the Russell might be perfect or not. Unfortunately you just spent over a thousand dollars on two seats that didn't work.
My advice would be to ride the stock seat for awhile and try it in the two positions and also try the modification mentioned in an earlier post. You might end up saving some money which you can then spend on somethilng really important like an exhaust pipe that doesn't work. :)

I sat on the new Triumph Explorer saturday, the seat was wonderful, course I was only on it for like 1 minute till someone kicked me off the bike. Think the Super T is much nicer looking to put it in a gentle way. I also liked the CC setup on the right hand controls.

Thats why people take a big risk when they buy a seat that isn't custom built to their body, ergos, and most of all weight. I have a lot of people say no way when they find out how much I pay for a Renazco, but after three seats on three separate bikes, they've got it right for me every time. It's not the craps shoot you might think it is. You just have to be willing to pony up the money for somebody who REALLY KNOWS what they are doing and then wait your turn (they have a waiting list), but it's been well worth the wait IMO. I never give up my seat pan until the off season though :)

I have had the same experiance with Russell. Have not had any luck with any of the others I have tried in the past. Placed order for Russell today. $733 Not cheap but it was that or sell the bike.
