I love the TCS on the Tenere, but there are times when it is just not appropriate. I had stopped to look at the depth of this water crossing. When I restarted the bike I forgot to reset the TCS. Results were predictable.

Mine opps was in sand. I forgot to TC2 it and tried to power out of the sand.
No way was that going to let me any power. Fell over and corrected my bad
when I restarted it.

Too bad ECUunlease doesn't give their customer the option to change that. I think there would be a lot of takers.

I did the same thing on my 1st off pavement voyage. I stopped on some wet grass/sloppy mud and I couldn't get the bike moving again. Eventually the flashy yellow light on the dash clued me in. Held the TSC button and was able to work it out.

Yamaha should have designed the TC like BMW where you can turn it off/on the fly without taking your hand off the left hand grip! :'(

even stopping and starting on grass with TC on doesn't work so well. stalled a few times before I figured it out...small price to pay in the grand scheme of things, I guess. much less fun in a river crossing, obviously.

Someone moved the controls to the bars early on, but "on the fly" I think is still a no go ATM. I will have to check that out this afternoon. ::001::

Jon - this looks like the same crossing where I drowned the Vee a few years ago! Interesting to see where you went to the left... I was a gung-ho and went straight across, after wading about half way to check the depth. "She'll be right". Except when there is a big hole after the half-way point! The Vee came to a sudden halt after the bow wave filled the airbox with water. That'll teach me...

Good point about the traction control - TCS 1 can sometimes get you into trouble. I really wish it would stay in the last-selected mode. Mine would be in TCS2 most of the time.

Damn, Trevor...that sucks. What did it take to get it going again? Definitely the same water crossing. I've approached that water crossing from the other side and it was pretty easy to see that hole from that perspective. That view also gave me the idea of the route I took this weekend.

I've never been a big water crossing guy, but I've done more water crossing this weekend than I've done in the last 10 years. Funny how getting the biggest, heaviest bike I've ever owned makes me decide to get wet. I love S10.

This video also has the water crossing I found yesterday in the Frederick, MD watershed.

Well, it was high tide inside the airbox, so spent about 1.5 hours sucking water out of the throttle bodies (always good to carry some clear plastic tubing) and blowing it out of the spark plug holes and exhausts.
