Forgot to mention I have a MRA windscreen that is wider than stock. I might need to break out the dremel an give it a trim.
You might get lucky. I have had no issues running the touratech bracket with a MRA screen

I'm a poor candidate for that question. Truth is, the jumbo pegs are so that there is a high likelihood that my feet will land somewhere ON the pegs if I get a bit out of control. The reason for my concern is I don't have much feeling in my lower body from a spinal chord injury. Thus, vibration? Not noticeable there. Lol

Now my hands are another story. I think they are even more sensitive to input. By far my best data entry point, other than vision.

Even there though, the various vibrations are not objectionable. In fact, I delight at how this bike "talks to the hands". Even more so after re-working the forks.

Anyways, love the pegs. They are magnificent for my needs. Feel very secure standing and blasting!

About aftermarket handlebars - how do you deal with the bar-end inserts for the OEM hand guards? It doesn't look like the stock ones want to come out.

On the Flexbars I tapped threads and inserts. Mounted OEM guards and weights.

Went for my first long ride yesterday and found my left thumb hurting after a while and took to resting my thumb on top of the grip.
When I got back home I had a good read on here and noticed that a few others have had the same problem.

Anyway, long story short I have ordered a Pro Taper Raptor bar and G2 inserts. Hopefully this will cure the ergonomics problem.
I'm not going with any risers as I don't find the stock bars too low but could do with them being closer. I'll see how I get on.

in general what makes me hesitant on this is the narrowness of the Pro Taper bars. I don't want to get everything apart only to find this isn't going to work. I also have the yamaha heated grips, which i think are a bit wider anyways. I bet I could get some spacer to add to the end.

Jeff I used the protaper atv high bars. I do not have the factory heated grips but I can firmly say that everything fit on the bars with no issues. I did tap the end of the bars and use G2 inserts to handle the bar end weights.

I have the ProTaper Raptor bars and OEM heated grips. The inside of the grips are 24" apart. What is the measurement of the heated grips mounted on the stock bars?

There are locator pins on the controls, surely they're not necessary?

Isn't the idea that in the event of a crash the controls move rather than break?

They must be for ease of assembly at the factory.

Are they part of the casting? If so I will grind them off.

I removed the pins while installing the Pro Taper Raptors.

Yes they are part of the casting. I did drill the holes in the bar and kept the locator pins.

tpak did a nice spreadsheet with dims for a bunch of handle bars.

Ah, here it is http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=6749.0

A good place to start.
Just updated this to include all of the control plane information on ProTaper Contour series. If you have other information on control plane or missing bars I am happy to add it, just let me know.

Those look great. Every time I see one of these bar swap threads I wonder about the decrease in sweep... For us tall guys, doesn't it solve one problem while creating another by making you lean further forward to reach the bars?
