I am contemplating changing handle bars at same time I do control wires and risers. I am having a hard time finding the bars that other posts have convert to. I have no basis of comparison not knowing the dimensions of the OEM Yamaha bars. How do you go about figuriing out the right bar? Seems like too many variables going on at once.....risers.....bar posiition.....etc

Somewhere (search "handle bars") on this forum there is a spreadsheet with all the dimensions of the aftermarket bars and the stock bars. Other than that Pro Taper has all their dimensions on their webpage.

Duckhead, many have gone with and using Pro Taper Raptor ATV High or Mid Bend for straighter and taller. You can get the HDB bar end kit which allows you to use the factory ends.

Thanks cosmic.

That pretty much reveals how EXTREME the sweep is on the OEM bars. My shoulders say ouch everytime I see those. :)

Your welcome. I love this bar. My off road handling skills improved a lot with it. Next thing I'm installing Rox Pivot risers. That would be ultimate mod.

I suspect with those bars and the risers, it will be difficult to get you to SIT DOWN. Lol

I love standing on this bike. I have it ergo-perfect for that. It's simply outSTANDING. (couldn't stop myself)

Our Teneres really need the 200mm control area. I think the OEM is a little longer, but the Pro Taper ATV mid, at 200mm, appears to be enough. I tried the Windham / RM Mid, which while perfect on my WR250R, are too short in the control area for the Tenere at 180mm.
See the Contour | Pro Taper site for a chart with all the dimensions of their bars.

I'm considering this swap as well... I'm already just about to touch the windscreen at full lock with my hand guards though and its going to be bad with even less sweep. Is there a simple solution?

If you wanna get spendy, the flexbars (15degree) have the required control surface & they are stout, like the Tenere itself.

I have made the change with no risers and it has not been a problem for me. Stock or with the TT windscreen bracket. HTH

Forgot to mention I have a MRA windscreen that is wider than stock. I might need to break out the dremel an give it a trim.

As mentioned it many times before, i love standing on my Snowflake more than on my WR450. I regularly do 150mls off road trips, all standing, thanks to the bars. I have a 30mm Tusk risers, but that is not good enough.
The Rox Pivot will come off from WR for the sake of test, and then i will decide where to buy another one, or not.
One more thing i have to change to make it perfect... Footpegs! OEM ones are just mediocre.
